Here’s a data point in the whole 6MT vs. tip pricing argument that came across my desk this morning..

An local to me ’08 turbo cab with 19K miles..tip transmission, for less than 70K..

Maybe the pricing has more to do with the color (speed yellow) as some seem to either love or hate the color..

Not sure why, but there is a speed yellow from a good dude here for under 60k i think. 6speed as well

Here is a gray one. NICE for 77k https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-warranty.html There is a 6sp for 66k if you want to save 11k

Having black can be a bummer (mine is), but keep in mind that 40-50% of the cars are black, hence you will greatly reduce your chances of finding a nice one if you exclude the color.
Tip cars are cheap. Bargain hard if you want one. They often sit on lots for a while. Good luck!

I found mine within a couple of months (Atlas grey 2007 Cpe Tip, 29,000 miles, $70,000, California car, single owner) with sport chrono of course.

I looked on and off for a year or so. I wanted a cabriolet with a manual transmission. I considered a 997.2 C4S and I would have considered a PDK for a .2 car. I didn't want silver, gray or black. I wanted sport chrono, PCCB and the thicker sport steering wheel. I wanted adaptive sport seats. I looked at several yellow cars, a white one and a red one. When I eventually found the one that I bought, everything happened quickly - over a matter of days. I think the keys are to know what you want, and be ready to act when you find it.

There are a number of 6spds under 70k and I saw one tip but it was beat. Looking at around 70-75k for a Tip. I am not sure where everyone is getting their data from the tips on this board are all over 75k and there a number of 6spds under 70 and closer to 65, likewise online. I am just not seeing that many tips worth looking at. Either tranny the ones out there are high miles or iffy.

I would get some data on that gray one on the board. See what his bottom number is. Most dealers with a clue will tell you exactly what I did... so you want me to discount a faster more consistent car that anyone car drive? over a manual that less and less people can drive? I mean the worst possible combo is a 6sp and yellow or some color of brown interior. Also try to avoid anything with tan. Doesnt matter the tranny those cars are usually 5k+ than a similar car.

This is completely the opposite of how I usually make larger financial decisions but so far it's worked out haha.
well said. we think alike my friend..

About a week

From the time I decide to pull the trigger, it took me about a week to find my 997.1 TT. I was leaning toward a 997.1 GT3 but a local dealer had TT that just came in with a CPO and 12,000 miles so I jumped on it.

I drove an expensive low mileage '07 Turbo at a dealer and fell in love...but could not afford it. A few months later I was in Toronto, test driving a few '07 Audi RS4s. I knew about a high mileage '07 997 Turbo manual nearby that was barely in my price range. I almost didn't bother to go and look at it, but decided to check it out. I made a deal and drove it home (6hr drive) that day. I didn't have time for a PPI or anything...almost no service history included. I was nervous all the way home...but the car is perfect. Clean, fast and everything works great.
