For buyers of used Turbos... how long did it take you to find your car???
Looked in earnest for about a month and then found exactly what I wanted 500 miles away. Drove to see the car in person one weekend, had a PPI done during the week, then flew up the following weekend and drove it home. Mileage on the car at purchase was 12,500.
FWIW - '07 Atlas Grey, 6 speed, LSD, chrono, crest in seats, clear shield, $10k in OEM CF interior, AG wheels (also got the perfect shape OEM wheels in the deal), and Tubi exhaust all for $77.5k. Considering no dealer costs/fees or shipping costs, I consider the deal good. Not great, but good and I'm happy.

took me a bit longer. I was willing to go high mileage as I commute in my car. 64k on odometer....needed 1 owner, 1 dealer car (for full service history). Not picky on options except for Sports Chrono....6speed manual to which a new clutch installed by dealer needed to be part of deal. Oh and since manual I needed the DME output report. You would be surprised how many stories I would get back when asking for that.
Oh and my search was nationwide....took about 6months

I actually really wasn't looking for a Porsche when I accidentally stumbled onto one not more than 15 miles from my home. It was an 08 997.1 6MT (>24K miles) in GT Silver (love that color), all black leather, Red Seat belts, Porsche crest in head rest, heated / ventilated seats, short throw, Sports Chrono, LSD, Fabspeed exhaust and ECU Tune and tinted windows. I'm sure there's more but off the top of my head, thats what I remember. I'm actually still in the dog house for this one as I kinda mentioned I was looking at this car and the following day, I bought it..
You know what they say, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
Turboslut, pardon my newbness but what is a DME output report?

My 996Turbo took me about 10 months as I was new to the 911 world and not knowing what to look for (cars strengths and weakness) I had a lot of extra fear, but it took me about 5 months for my 997T, but was worth every wait!!
Be aggressive and negotiate
My advice is to not set hard restrictions on what you want - the ideal car may be 5K more miles than you desire, but may be a great car.

Back in 2009, it took me 7 months and I looked at over 20 cars. I wanted a six speed manual, white or silver exterior, black interior, loaded with less than 5K miles, still under warranty. I am extremely picky and would not settle. Finally found a loaded 2007 Turbo coupe in GT Silver with black interior. Original MSRP was $141K and car only had 1800 miles on it and was still under factory warranty. Still have the car as a Sunday driver and it just turned 10,000 miles. Ultimate garage queen
If you look long and hard enough you will locate that gem. Whatever you do, make sure the car is still under warranty or purchase a warranty for peace of mind. These beasts are expensive to repair if something goes wrong. Good luck with the search!

Well for me it was easy one day I was on autotrader saw a 2008 yellow turbo with all the options I would have got if I were to buy the car new, car was basically brand new only 13k km, so I called the dealer gave them Info on my carrera s and they offered me market value trade then deal was done picked the car up a week later. My car is a yellow tip tronic 2008 with yellow stitching black leather and carbon fiber trim all around.
I have owned 6 turbos and never waited more than 2 weeks to locate the car I wanted, and I have owned several odd cars (1992 Turbo S2; 993 GT2 Evo race car; Ruf Turbo 996). I have only bought one new, ordered to my specifications. In the U.S., it helps to have access to auction sites that dealers can access.
Looked at the market for a year but decided that it is finally time to get one... Cant decide if I want an 09 or just go ahead and buy a 2010 w/ pdk. I keep going back and forth with that and white or black. We shall see what happens
The DME output report...
It is a readout of the vehicle's engine management ECU, which has a lifelong tally of over revs on the vehicle. If previous owner misshifted and engine revved to 9500 rpm then you would know by looking at the over rev section of that output. Obviously...dealer needs to run for you or you can use durametric cable I heard.

Found a great car with everything I wanted in about a month. Although my search was national I found the car locally. The dealer had just posted the car without pictures and hadn't completed the CPO inspection yet when it showed up on his web site one evening. I was at the dealer bright and early the next morning and bought the car on the spot. Negotiated a good price too.
