Missed Gear, gearbox / cluth trouble. help

I missed gear going from 3rd to 4th on the highway. It crunched and went in but when i let go of the clutch there was no drive, It was like the car was in neutral but i had it in 4th gear? i then pressed the clutch in and tried 3rd and it selected fine. after that it was selecting all gears and i drove home safely.
Back of my mind i knew i did some damage somewhere.

next day i drove the car the car got stuck in 3rd gear, i shifted out of 3rd to select 4th but it was still in 3rd gear. The gearstick felt like it was moving straight down to 4th without actual slotting in 4th gear like a loose gearstick which wasn't connected to any cables. i couldn't move it left or right just up and down (3rd & 4th).
I then did a 3rd gear pull to about 7k revs and shifted to 4th and it came out of 3rd and went in 4th. It then drove perfectly after that. tested all gears for next 10 mins.

Now i'm worried there's is something wrong with either the clutch or the gearbox and i'm not using the car anymore in case i get stuck somewhere.

Does anyone have any similar problems or know what could be wrong with my transmission. I have a feeling i have damaged the clutch pressure plate since it won't let me take it out of gear. But could be a dodgy gearbox, shifter cables, clutch slave?

Car has 33k miles with Porsche short shift kit and i believe still on its original clutch.

Any input will be appreciated.

If it's happening in every gear you cracked your flywheel....if it's happening only in certain gear situations you damaged your sycros or maybe damage shifter cable....now would be good time to change tranny fluid.....let us know how it works out and hope everything turns out ok....

Depending on the rpm at the time of the shift you might need a new gearbox. You probably broke something on the gears. Cables arent usually stressed on a missed shift. I would think it could be clutch as well.

When you say you missed the gear, you slammed it into 2nd? Or 5th? Or completely missed?

Sorry if its a bit confusing

I shifted from 3rd to 4th gear but lifted the clutch to quick so it crunched and went into 4th but there was no drive (like it was in neutral).

Lots of possibilities. Jammed shift fork something tweaked in the shift console. Synchro, chipped gear. Someone suggested a trans fluid change and I would do that sooner than later. If you can drain it through a piece of screen you can check for any pieces of metal. I believe the drain plug has a magnet on it so you might find something on it. You should drain the oil into a clean container. Stir a magnet through the oil looking for other metallic parts. However, I believe your synchs are brass.

I had a shift detent pin come out once. The car was a bit hard to get in gear and then it freed up. Drained the trans fluid and found the pin stuck to the magnet. My trans guy said I was lucky. So change the oil.

Yeah thanks, that's the first thing I'm going to do once i have it on the ramps, I will then check all the gear shift/clutch assemblies (shift cables, clutch slave, clutch fork)
I just hope the gearbox isn't damaged, thanks for your reply much appreciated.
