Fidelity Warranty question.
Factory warranty is about to run out on my car. My local Porsche dealer quoted me $6100 for 5 year/60k Fidelity Platinum with $0 deductible. The cost is not a problem, as long as this warranty "works". I'm reading mixed reviews, some people saying Fidelity took care of them no problem, some people saying they were royally screwed. Service manager at Porsche tells me they are hassle-free and will fix anything no problem. He has been a very helpful service manager in the past, but I've learned the hard way in life to not always necessarily trust the person trying to sell you something! Is the general consensus that these Fidelity warranties are good or bad? I've probably had $15,000 in warranty work done just this past year on my car at the dealer, so it will most likely pay for itself and more in a very short amount of time...as long as they pay. That's why I'm not worried about the cost of the warranty, as long as it will work when I need it to.
Extended warranty is always a 50/50 proposition - no wrong or right, and experiences vary a lot, but IMHO Fidelity is a legit company. I did have Fidelity that I bought from Porsche Long Beach at a discount. You just have to compare one dealer's quote against another and make them compete for your business, just like when buying a car. The cost varies a lot depending on how old the car is, miles on odometer, deductible (mine was higher than 250 IIRC).
Fidelity did pay for work on my car totaling around $4000 for fixing problems related to a cooling system leak (looong story :-)). Car has ECU tune, exhaust, suspension mod and that never came up during the visit by Fidelity rep. Unless it's a $20000 engine replacement, etc., I don't believe the rep is out to nit pick and deny you unreasonably. Relationship with dealer is very important and I believe that the dealer *tries* to be on your side as far as revealing mods in your car that might or might not be relevant. They don't want to upset you **especially** if you had bought the policy from them.

If you're stock, I don't think anyone disputes whether they'll pay. That price seems incredibly high though unless you're above 40k miles. You can buy a Fidelity Warranty at any dealership (Kia, Chevrolet, Porsche) and it'll be honored. I'd shop around and probably go with a $250 deductible. PM me and I can tell you where I purchased mine.
i have Fidelity platinum on 07 997.1TT that is still under CPO with <25k miles- (6 yr 60k addt'l mile cost with $250 ded was $4300) bought at Sunset Porsche in Oregon over the phone. No claims yet as CPO expires shortly-
have same warranty on wife's 07 Boxster S with $100 ded- also bought at sunset porsche over phone- 3-4 minor items covered with no issue.
Previous '02 996C2 also had fidelity platinum- they covered rear main seal with no issue & several other minor items.
I'd ck price for 6 or 7 yr with appropriate mileage limit that fits your usage with $100 or $250 deductible, as price declines over 0 ded. Should help with resale also if you sell.
I've been happy with Fidelity- decided to buy for 997.1TT while still under CPO as miles were <25K- local dealer switched from Fidelity to Zurich & cost was nuts. Decided to get Fidelity while price was "reasonable" for 6 yr peace of mind.

GWC Warranty. I would avoid them at all costs.
I just called sunset Porsche in LA, I am working a deal with them now but pricing seem to be the lowest I can get from any dealers. I will post the final pricing and terms when I can seal the deal.
Signed the warranty contract today at my Porsche dealer. Fidelity Platinum 5 year/60k, came to $6600 with tax. He ran my service history and warranty repairs alone were almost $25,000 over the past year (ignition switch, power seat, wing struts, and more). Its crazy how little things can add up to be so much. I can't imagine this warranty not paying for itself in a short amount of time.
Ironically, there was a Turbo S Cab just like mine in the shop with the engine out. My service guy said the guy came in complaining about a noisy clicking sound. Turns out he had a spun rod bearing in the engine and they have to replace the whole thing. He had just started putting together a parts total and it was $48,000 so far. He expects it to be $60k said and done with labor. Guy is lucky he was covered.

I bought a the same warranty except for 6 years................. It has already paid for itself by over 50% and the sad thing is " I can't imagine this warranty not paying for itself in a short amount of time. " ----- that is such a disappointment in Porsche in my opinion, but that is exactly what I was thinking when I got the insurance.
The techs no way lie to the warranty adjuster. If they did this and the adjuster found out -- and he would -- then he would deny every warranty claim submitted by the techs and the customers would suffer.
The customers would not just turn around and have the dealer do the work and pay for it. They would yank the car out of the dealer's service department in a heartbeat and have the work done elsewhere or just dispose of the car if the estimated repair bill was too high.
Here is what I got from Circle Porsche for my 2008 TT with 9880 miles on the clock:
6 years or 60k miles with $100 deductible Platinum Package for $2606
Ask for Elliot Dawson, he is awesome so far.

That's a phenomenal price. Great job.
Is that recent??
Yes very recent, in fact I am still waiting for my fedex package to arrive then sign all documents and pay for the bill and send it back to him. I am not driving the car until it cover under warranty because if you passed 10k miles mark, you pay double the price instantly.
