Excellent...thanks for the information...right now I am leaning toward a tune by Motorsports by Reeves (dealer Motorsports division) in which they make a slight exhaust modification to release some back pressure but not too much and then a tune for 50hp/60tq...Not ready yet as I am breaking in my new SACHS 2.5 clutch and think this tune will be my next mod to enjoy power in the 530/520 range. After I get bored with that and on my way to 600hp/tq I assume that I will need to get an exhaust (BBI, GMG, FVD, EP, etc...), platinum plugs (gapped correctly), coils and another tune. And from this thread I am assuming I should change my inlet intercoolers? Why? And will a set from the 997.2 do the job at 600hp/tq?

The consensus is around .025" gap, which in the world of spark plugs isn't SUPER tight, but it's getting there. All things being equal a spark plug will live longer at a wider gap, so you are shortening the lifespan of the spark plug by gapping it tightly.

The reason you want to do coils is twofold - with a hotter aftermarket coil you can keep the plug gap to something more reasonable (.031-.035?), get more life out of it, and not have issues with misfires.

Secondly, it is a stupid amount of labor to change the spark plugs in these cars. You don't want to do this job often and it can run $1000 in labor alone to do it. So if you are going to be in there, best to have them done at the same time. You can stick with the factory coils for quite a while. EvoMS and BBI start recommending upgrading them around 650-700whp.

Interesting...So is the answer aftermarket coils?
Not necessarily, I'm sticking with OEM for a custom tune (all stock except for exhaust) , recommended by my tuner. I believe if you go for bigger numbers then aftermarket coils may be the way to go.
