Going back to a NSX
I've always been a big fan of the NSX. Does anyone else think that the car being completely designed in the US make it not as desirable? I'm a big fan of Japanese engineering.
I can't wait to see what it does on a track. They set the bar really high with the original NSX and I hope this version has the same impact.

IMO if it doesnt compete in both price and performance to the current and new GTR it will not be successful.
Sure real gear heads might cross shop it with german, italian, and vette/viper but in the end it is a "tuner car" so it needs to be priced with other high end tuner cars (gtr, 911tt)

Ironic that someone that drives a car that was around $150k, a 6 cyl car and really in the end our Porsches are just Volkswagens.....
+1 on this
I am an original NSX owner, so I may be biased. I feel that the new design is derivative, uncreative. It will be doubtlessly pretty nice in person nonetheless, as it is low, wide and nose down/tail up in the usual modern performance car shape... but I do feel Acura's desigers missed lots of opportunities to make it look truly special. With the exception of the original NSX (not drawn in house), Honda/Acura remains a company of great (and I mean great) engineers without a good eye for automotive beauty.
As for performance, I would never underestimate Honda engineering. The e-motors doing torque fill at low revs with the blown 6 under the hood will surely result in very impressive giddy-up (a la McLaren P1). It is a difficult achievement technically to get the two power sources to blend seamlessly in serious performance driving when pedal feel and response is so important. I suspect the engineering team optimizing this this very thing is what has kept the NSX from being launched for so long.
Still the relatively standard body structure (non CF tub), e-motors, batteries to drive them and the width of the car should lead to a ~3500 lb curb weight I would guess (with 550+ HP combined). That's 300-400 pounds heavier than a McLaren, for instance, a 12C or 650S having 600+ HP with 3100 pounds...and the Corvette C7 Z06 is 3500+ lb, 650 HP & TQ...
