Boston Indy Shops

I'm currently waiting on my 997.1 tt to be transported up to Boston, and I anticipate I will be adding an exhaust to it, and possibly other mods. Can anyone recommend a good indy shop / tuner around Boston?

Thanks!

I plan on taking mine to Kaizen tuning this summer for a Cobb protune. They're pretty well known in the area.

Check out Eurosport Performance

I've worked with them for years and I have always gotten great feedback from our mutual customers!

If you don't mind travelling to NH, we can get you set up with one of our X-Flow exhausts and a tune...

Not in the immediate Boston area, but I'd highly recommend Bren Tuning in Charlton. Bren specializes in stock DME tuning on a wide variety of platforms, but primarily works on the Euro-platforms (BMW, Merc, Porsche) and specifically tuning with COBB.

I've had the opportunity to be tuned and meet Bren in person, and he genuinely wants to make sure 1) the customer is happy, and 2) the tune is top-notch. While Bren dyno tuned my car (DD 335), I asked him about the various changes he was making to boost, fueling, ignition timing, etc., and he happily explained what was being adjust and why. After confirming on the dyno that the car was running consistent (consistent AFR, no timing corrections, maintained the boost curve, etc), we took the car off the dyno and confirmed the drivability with some street tuning. After making a few additional changes to make sure the drivability was there, and backed up by the power, we put the car back on the dyno to get a final product dyno, compared to a stock baseline taken before we started.

Bren's website has a dyno database of other cars he's tuned (http://www.brentuning.com/dyno-database) and an AWD Mustang dyno. He's certainly more than capable of installing your exhaust and providing a very high quality COBB tune (whether you just want a pump gas, E85, or multiple maps).

The car comes with a GIAC tune, how well will it work with the speedtech exhaust? I may be able to get a used one from another boston turbo owner.

It will work fine. Basically all tunes, regardless of brand, are designed for a high flow exhaust such as ours...

What are the estimated gains in HP and torque with the tune and exhaust? Do you have a dyne at the shop to assess gains?

Hi retinasurgeaon,

SpeedTech is primarily a Porsche exhaust designer and manufacturer. Our 997TT tuned file figures are provided to us from Softronic, as we are a dealer of the Softronic brand of tuning software for Porsche. To provide a little background on the Softronic tune we provide, Softronic has been involved with tuning Porsches for longer than most tuners out there (over 30 years) and is extremely active in tuning a wide variety of Porsche GT3 race cars. The owner and founder of Softronic works with the Porsche Motorsports Teams as an ECU specialist, as well, verifying proper running of the ECU portion of the Porsche race cars. There is a lot of background available going back many years and they know/understand the Porsche ECU very well. We do not offer an in-house dyno service. According to Softronic, you would expect approx. a 90HP increase and 120 ft./lb. torque increase over a stock car.

Also, FYI, we offer a 997TT exhaust/flash bundle at a discounted price when purchased together.

You can give us a call to discuss this in further detail, if you would like and I will be happy to share whatever I can with you...

Best Regards,

John

I will definitely give you a guys a call. I have heard pretty good things about Softronic, but I have yet to see a head to head comparison against other tunes such as GIAC (which is already on the car). Either way I will be coming by your shop to take a look and maybe do an audition. Thanks for the info!
