Looking for my 1st Porsche

Hello all,

I am new to the game and the 911 Turbo has been my dream car since I was a kid and I am in the position to get one and even have my wife's blessing. My only must have's are it must be a TT or TTS and Manual transmission (I know the PDK is faster but this is a personal preference).

I am currently looking at 2011-2013 911's. Are there any differences between these years for these cars and any quirks/problems I should look out for as I start my hunt? All your advise is appreciated.

Get an aircooled one instead, had my 997.1tt for 3yrs, its great but I start to feel that everything great with it, I would get more of if it was a 964/993/930 turbo instead.

Twin Turbo S only comes with PDK in those years you are looking. Thats why I bought a twin turbo with a 6 speed manual.

Go drive a PDK and it might change your mind, it changed mine. I never drive my car in automatic and always in Sport Plus manual and it is as fun.

The PDK is fast but as you said, manual is the way to go. Loved my TTS but if I had to do it all over again I'd go 2007 6 speed (and more likely, just would have gone '07 GT3 route).

You should look at 997.1's instead. Metzger motor (better modding potential) and the car looks the same as the 997.2 and is a lot cheaper. The PDK is the main reason to do a 997.2 in my opinion.

Not everyone is into modding their engine. The 997.2 in stock form is quicker than the 997.1 and has certain upgrades in suspension, pcm, led tail lights, direct injection, etc, etc. You can still find a 6 speed manual transmission. I found one. I use to have a 996 tt. I put a software upgrade and my plugs needed to be replaced soon after. The 997.2 is plenty fast in my opinion and just needed an exhaust upgrade.

True but's it's nice to understand options, especially if one wants to mod. Getting a 997.1 could save $20-$30 grand from a 997.2 and if OP did want to allocate only half of that savings for mods, could do something like a simple e85 fuel system to make the car a lot faster than a 997.2 plus still have a lot of money left for LED tail light conversion, aftermarket suspension, maybe wheels, etc.

Most .2 turbo s could be had for 2011 could be had for around 110k. A low milage .1 turbo 08-09 is around 85-95k. A .2 2010 turbo slightly more.

So you really don't save much unless you get an 07 with more than 10k miles. And even then, to bring it up to the .2 level, you are going to drop at least 10k in it. So really you don't save much by going to a .1. It only makes sense to go to the .1 if you want a manual, and over 700hp.

Other than that the .2 is the better buy in every way.

Thanks All. So it looks like an TTS is not a possiblity if not available in 6-speed Manual in those years. I doubt if I will end up modding much either. Is it realistic to find a clean nearly unmodded 997.2 TT Manual with under 10k miles for $100k or less? I don't need a loan so that could be some leverage.

The manual .2 TT is very rare. Also why would needing a loan matter? Either you pay them or the bank pays them, it doesn't matter lol.

I found mine with 10,300 miles about 9-10 months ago at asking price from a Mercedes Dealership at $111,000. Was not easy but I picked it up for $107,000 plus tax and license. It was still under factory warranty, but no longer. If you find one I recommend installing the factory oem sport shifter. Make sure it has sport chrono. Also I love the sport seats. Those were a must for me, and of course manual transmission.

You can find low mileage examples of 997.1 for 70's to 80's. For some reason the prices are falling hard in the last month.

Do the 2010 TT have any bugs or quirks being the first year of the 997.2 platform? Also, I found a 2012 CPO car at a dealer that is already a 4-owner car (Yikes!), so I would be the 5th owner. How much do you think this will affect resale value?
