On the 997.1 it's true the factory manifolds are great. Pretty short run. Ported they do about what most good headers do. +5/10hp and a tad better all around. When you go over 750/800hp however we see benefit from the larger bore and general high performance header principals. Sound is definitely improved and noticed.

On the 997.2 cars however, the factory manifolds can be improved quite a bit. They are different. You will feel it and hear it. If anyone is interested in a guaranteed and supported order I am in as usual! SamboTT guarantee! The Stainless and Inconel are of the same design for the Kline. The material choice is there. Generally Inconel is more mechanical and has a better sounding pitch/tone to a car nut. Especially on the full exhaust. But the main factor is the weight (2.9kg for the pair of these) and the better heat/corrosion characteristics.

Hope that helps.

They will give like a 10-15 hp bump probably. Not enough to notice. It's more for the thermal capabilities and sound. Same as an exhaust. You think 25 extra hp or 30 pounds less weight makes a noticeable difference? No, it's for the sound.

EDIT: Actually they claim big hp gains in the low range and upper RPM band as well. Idk what big entails.

Haven't read anything here about the headers for .2 cracking. Was that a problem associated with the .1 only? I had 2 sets of the GMG headers crack and now have ordered the FVD Brombacher ($1788 delivered)

Hi Guys,

Resurrecting an old thread here....just tried to buy the BBi Inconel cast headers for my 997.2 only to be told they are out of production!

Looking to get improved sound and throttle response with a set of headers, as well as future-proof myself for other tuning upgrades.
Currently have the BBi barcode exhaust as part of a COBB stage 3 kit including AMS intercoolers and Y-pipe.

Suggestions?

If you are looking for inconel specifically I think you can look at what kline offers. I know they do inconel for 997.1, I would assume they do 997.2 inconel versions as well. Not sure who else does inconel off the shelf. Custom there always is unobtanium welding in Canada. If you are open to stainless there are a few more options. Good luck.

Thanks Maestro,

Good suggestions!
I've actually been considering the Kilne ones....and yes they do make an off the shelf set for 997.2. Kinda hoped to keep it all matched with BBi but seems that's not possible anymore.

Anyone out there got experience with the Kline Inconel 997.2 headers in terms of difference in sound and throttle response?

I have the stainless Kline headers on my 991.2TTS and they are fantastic. Really changed the sound of he car. Much more exotic sounding at high rpm. Love them.

Cheers A418t81

Being similar motors that gives me some good confidence...really looking for that more exotic 'Italian' type sound that you're describing.
Did you notice any difference in throttle response?...and did you do them at the same time as the rest of the exhaust or by themselves?

Also wondering whether stainless will do or if I will get a better sound from going Inconel....quite a difference in price....but happy to pay if the difference in sound is noticeable.

Yep, similar motors. I did the exhaust and a flash at the same time, so I don’t know what the headers did by themselves other than the sound, which is quite noticeable. My friend has the same car and exhaust without the headers and his is much lower pitched and “blattier” sounding. Well worth the money. I would just go with the SS version and use the excess towards better intercooling.

I have the catted barcode bbi exhaust on my TTS and couldn’t be happier. I feel their products have unmatched design and quality. I was told their headers were unavailable as well, so I went with Evoms. They are nice but not the same...

Great feedback everyone!....thank you!

I now agree that the difference in price for Inconel is probably not worth it having read the opinions above. A few kg lighter but no more in power...and no easy to find data on improved sound quality.

I'm also now at the point where I am now tossing up between Kline headers and ES-Motor headers.
Both options appear to be equal length primaries which is important to me...and both are reputable outfits....with ES-Motor also doing amazing tuning for the 997.2TT platform from what I read.

Anyone had any direct comparison experience between these two? Or has anyone got firsthand experience with the ES-Motor product?
