Help removing the chrono pod
Does anyone in the socal area have experience doing this? I want to remove my OEM chrono pod for an "exclusive option" deviated-stitched substitute... but I'm having a heck of a time removing it carefully, making sure not to damage the dash at all.
Well forum vendor Thomas from Emmanuele Design in Anaheim built my meth system and it included the replacement of my sport chrono gauge with a coolingmist meth gauge / controller so I would presume he is up to the task.
Thanks Rock, I should have mentioned that I've seen these instructions before. I'm stuck on step 1.
fwiw, in addition to these instructions, I was told to wrap the removal tool in a microfiber towel and pull "up" on the chrono pod while prying. I've tried, but it doesn't want to budge.

Longboarder, thanks for the rec. If it comes down to it, I will give him a call. You got me thinking, I could also just take it down to newport porsche and get a tech to help me with it.

If you look at Macarbon's pix, you will notice 3 attached points on the pod. Use the angled plastic trim removal too and place it under those points, while placing a microfiber towel beneath the tool to minimize any potential indentations to the leather dash surface. You will need to put a little more force into it to make it pop off. Just a gradual but determined prying force, and it will pop off. Very doable.

I think it just takes a lot of force, and always scary the first time.
Good luck!

lol you guys are awesome... I get some good advice and a few laughs. Maybe I've been doing too much yoga and not enough P90 lol.
Thanks 808 and DC, sounds like I just need to give it a little more pep. I can't say I applied a "continuous and gradual determined" force. I might try one more time next week until I give up and take it to a pro.

I've had mine off a few times. Use a bigger pry tool. The indentations (if any) will go away, and you don't feel like you're straining to release the clips. Don't pull. Pry! Good luck.
