Any tips on data logging on cobb..
Any tips on data logging on cobb..
I'm going to run a couple of passes on my cobb to see how the car is running..is there anything I should know and if I post results can anybody read them....how many and what are the areas of greatest importance ....btw tune is still one of my favorites....
I'd be glad to take a look for you. It gets a little hairy so we try to minimize speed by doing third gear pulls. First and foremost please be safe. Go to third gear at around 2500 RPM. When you're in gauge is mowed and the car is running it should say "not logging" at the top. Push the button and punch it. Go as high as you safely can close to redline and push the button then let off the throttle. There you will have a concise third gear pull log.
Do a firmware update through AP manager first. All of the proper settings and parameters are set by default.

@Brooklyn boosting, here are links to an FAQ and a How-To links on our website that explain datalogging and what we typically recommend to people when we've worked with over the years for custom tuning:

Let me know if any questions at all or if you'd like datalogs reviewed. Datazap.me is a great online datalog grapher made by one of the guys I know from a long while back in the BMW tuning scene. It works really well and is always being updated with new features, very convenient and you can share out your logs from there.

Hey bud, I think it is in the neighborhood of 30-35hz with 15-20 monitors so pretty quick. The 991 Seams to handle even more.
It'll vary depending on channels selected. Going over the logs we've got here's a breakdown of what we see typically off a Cobb AP V3:
997.1 Turbo with about 26 channels selected you can get about 26-27 samples/sec.
997.2 with 28 channels is about 10samples/sec.
991 Turbo is at 47-48 samples/sec for about 28 channels selected.
996 is about 13-14 samples/sec at 26 channels.
Frequency is really gated by what the diagnostic mode on the OBD port can provide over the CANBus. It isn't really gated by the hardware on the AP.

That's cool, thank you.
Totally sufficient sample rate. Is there anything like a tuner master Cobb that I can use to log any car that I want? I mean one that will not bind to a specific VIN.
Hey Sambo: you sell this stuff, right?
BTW: Durametric s*cks. I don't want to use that any longer. On a 996 I do get 12-16 samples a second, but the 997 stuff is pretty much buggy. Their support is less than optimal and I am looking for a new tool to make my work a bit easier.

Thanks for all the replys...I'm going to be looking for some good roads when I go to tkx performance in the beginning of dec....will try to post up results with info I have here....

Andreas - Sam is talking about me btw, and I have Sam's 996 now. It's a beast.
Happy to give you my perspective on the Cobb. As Denzo noted it's about 12-15hz on the 996, but it does that up to 30 or so parameters. This also includes the per cyc knock calculator which is nice.

The logging features seem to be nice, but it appears to be only available for Cobb tuned cars. You apparently can't log what is already there. But I sent Sam a request and he will talk to Cobb if what I want is possible or not.
You seem to be covered pretty well. Very good.
Congratulations on your new car. I talked to Sam yesterday and he told me what you got. Very nice.
