Busted pass. side strut tower mount - close call

Has anyone broken or busted a strut mount?

Mine gave out earlier today during a spirited drive - a little scary as I was on a sweeper doing about 130 or so...the car was extremely stable, and then suddenly the steering wheel moved about 15 degrees and the car felt like it was on ice and oil.

Fortunately, I was able to keep control of the car until I slowed down, then heard a light clunking noise, followed by a very unstable feeling.

I limped the car home for inspection and found a busted strut mount. I replaced these 2 years ago due to one being a little noisy. Has anyone replaced these with aftermarket ones? What options are there out there for our cars? I have gotten some feedback from a few track guys and Tarrett Racing seems to be a good option. I can't imagine this is something that happens pretty often.

I should have kept my older ones - but a year ago I cleaned the garage and these did not make the cut. Bleh...

This is what my driver's side looks like vs. the passenger side...

If anyone has used the camber plates by Tarrett Racing, please offer your feedback - thanks!

Thanks!

Tarret makes a very good plate, with compatibility with oem perches, but limited adjustability. I use vorshlag plates on our car, and they hve a great spring perch bearing solution also.

Thank you.

I think I am going to try the Taretts...I have motons and eibachs and this will add an extra 1.2 negative camber adjustment which is more than enough since I had already modified the car some. The most I seemed to get was 2.1 so with an additional 1.2, that should be more than enough for my application.

Strut mount or damper shaft? Never heard of a mount failure, but we've seen plenty of failed shafts, probably due to over torqued nuts.
