911R inspired 997.2 TTS
SubscribeTrack season is here and I was looking for some racing stripes for the TTS. None of the traditional stripes (i.e., Martini Racing, single solid down the middle, 997.2 GT3RS 4.0, etc) quite did it for me...then I thought about the 911R. I figured why not...I also had the rear view mirrors wrapped in the main stripe color and had the 'turbo S' placed on the lower doors (for the uninitiated who might mistake a TTS for a genuine 911R).
What do you guys thinks? I was going for racing stripes that would give the car a nice race car edge that isn't over the top (slightly understated) but that paid tribute to a Porsche icon. Thanks to Matt Muller and the crew at Aspen Autosports in Randolph NJ for a fantastic job, the car looks amazing in person and in just a few days has garnered more than its usual share of thumbs up by passing motorists...it's no longer a plain black Porsche!!

Looks amazing Obi great job!!!! I presume these are factory parts you can order? Did the side stripes also come with what you ordered? I'm thinking about this on a GT3. Thanks!!

Thanks, glad you like it. It came out better than I expected. The 911R is on the wider 991 platform and I wasn't sure how the stripes would translate on the 997. It actually works.Originally Posted by campbellcj

While I believe there are 911R kits out there (possibly even factory kits), the guys at Aspen Autosports actually made their own vinyl. They used a few 911R renderings to get the proportions just right. There might be factory kits for the 991, I'm not sure about the 997. Some shops sell 911R kits but I've only seen 991 and 981 kits.
We discussed the side stripe but we felt it might be too much going on due to the intake scoop vents on the side of the TT's. We settled on the smaller 'turbo S' lettering. I'm certain these stripes would look amazing on your 991.2 GT3!!
Thanks
Looks sharp! Just get rid of the front plate.

Thanks, I would love to get rid of the front plate however it would give NJ State Troopers one more reason to pull me over (I already do enough) Originally Posted by djillusion

Thanks Sam, still clean! The custom COBB Stage 2 is still going strong brother! I continue to make minor tweaks to the car to optimize it for road course track DE events, still on the OE stock suspension though (i.e, no lowering springs, no aftermarket shocks or dampers, no LCA's etc)...so far so good! Fun times at the track and on the street!Originally Posted by SamboTT@ByDesign

Hi jazz Wu, if I'm not mistaken, mods for COBB stage 2 is just an exhaust (free flowing e.g. 200 cell cats or less). At this point, most folks already mod the intake plenum, Y-pipe and air filter. I just have the Kline headers and IPD plenum with stock Y-pipe and air filter. Stage 3 calls primarily for AM intercoolers (some folks upgrade headers here as well). Stage 4 calls for upgraded turbos. If you want a path up the COBB stages, reach out to Sam@byDesign and he'll take great car of you and match you COBB files to your car. Originally Posted by jazzwu
