Plus I have always loved the looks of that generation. Thanks to everyone who helped and I will be sure to post pics and a thread after picking up the car.
Great choice!

Good choice but if you don't want ceramics or center locks and looking to tune i would look at a non 'S' Turbo.

I am fine with the ceramics however I would prefer to find a Turbo S without the centerlock wheels. I would be fine with looking for a regular turbo but it might be hard to find one in the color I want with the performance options that come standard on the S such as sports chrono and the limited slip diff. If I found one with all of those options I would be happy since I plan to tune anyway. Seems easier to just look for a silver Turbo S without the centerlocks.

I am open to either an S or Turbo with those options. I guess when the time is right I'll make a want to buy thread and see whats available on the usual car sites.

997 is the perfect size for a toy, the 991 is perfect for a DD. IF i could only have one car it would be 991, but with multiples i prefer my 997TTS. The size and driving dynamics just work better for me.

Bigger is not always better...but thats what sedans are for.

Unlike the 991.2's, the 991.1 S has the same smaller turbos that are on the non S (smaller housing then the 997.2's) and to get into the 137+ range you need to do the VTG upgrade to flow enough. With meth and race fuel you are around 138-144. 991.2 S has larger turbos, more capable DFI fuel system and other go fast hardware, where as the 991.1 models it is mostly just the tune from the non S to the S. When a company "truly" cracks the 991.2 S ECU, that car with just bolt-on is going to be crazy!!

The 997.2 has to be the most bang for buck machine to go from 124-126traps to 136-142! Just exhaust, flash, intercoolers your knocking around 135-136 and with meth & race fuel 137-142! Back in the day Protomotive's 997.2's ran low 10's @ 134-136 with just exhaust and flash!

1st world decisions I know, but I am busting my head between doing Alpha's on my 997.1 or do a full bolt / meth 991.1 myself

Great Info and debate on these two platforms. I'm bumping this to see if the OP ever bought his 997.2TTS and to see his thoughts on it??

Others looking can use this thread too, for their decision making and research.

Thanks Folks!

Totally agree with this statement. I had a 997.2T (PDK) and now a 991.1T and both cars really are amazing. I drive nowhere near the limits. The 991 is perfect for the commute, the PDK grabs much nicer than the 997.2 PDK did (next gen helps). I do miss the size of the 997.2 at times, but when you look at the actual size difference, it's really not that big of a difference. I had both cars "chipped" (GIAC), so they are both ridiculous fast with Sharkwerks exhausts. My 991 isn't my only car, but it hasn't felt like a compromise moving to the next platform . . . It's silly to think that a 997.2 or a 991 is a compromise, you have a great choice in front of you. Enjoy! KH

OPPPS, this was an old thread . . . Sorry, KH

Looks just like my garage... in my dreams!!!

Holy crap. Every time I acquire a new tool I feel like I am getting closer to having what I need, but my digs need much to be desired from an aesthetic point of view. I keep thinking I'll get a chance to clean it up after the current project, but then the next one comes along. Right now I just want to make enough room to stash my kid's car in there so he doesn't have to have it sit out all winter. At least I have that just about finished.
