Agree to a point. I was more impressed with the act of sending a FEDEX package...in the words of KAINE...very "official" delivery! I don't care for the looks of the car but the performance seems very impressive...but I'm more impressed with the marketing!

yeah, am with you there! that online presentation was completely over the top! very "hollywood" in its feel, complete with the "prequel" showing the history of the Turbo.

Now i wanna see the intro materials for the new GT3! (though of course it won't be as big budget, because the model will be more niche than the mainstream Turbo).

Here is a link to a Ruf 1/4 mile time slip: http://www.dragtimes.com/Porsche-Ruf-Timeslip-2370.html

Other Porsche 1/4 mile times: http://www.dragtimes.com/Porsche-Times.html

Doesn't mention which RUF model 520 or 550. Unlikely a 590.

I agree. Very odd. But distance is not always the same thing as speed.

Remember the R Turbo was on street tires. Scott could have been as well, but don't know.

My thinking, maybe helps.

The 520 was released in 2002.

The time is recored in 2004 according to the website (my understanding).

I do not know for sure, but I don't think the 590 kit was released by then.

Erik interesting, considering lots of people said the RUF's ran nowhere near low 11's and other tuner cars !!

In March 04 the 590 kit was out, but at that time i really doubt they would have gotten to the states by then.

Id say that car was a 550 kit which was converted by one of the ruf travelling mechanics, before RAC...but this is of course purely conjecture...
