997TT FedEx from PCNA

I just received a FedEx from PCNA regarding the new 997 TT. Pretty impressive advertising. I suppose they know I own a 993 TT.

It's taken them 8 years, but I think they're now getting back to what a TT is all about. With 460 lb-ft at 1950 and 505 lb-ft at 2100 in overboost, I can see how they can claim 0-60 in 3.4 for the Tiptronics and 11.6 in the 1/4. We may see 3 even in the mags!

My guess is this car will be faster than a Ruf 550 until 120 MPH+ when the Ruf will begin to overtake it due to its higher HP. However, for most short tracks and the street, the lower torque will likely have the 997TT outperforming the Ruf; at least for now.

The spec. figure is very impressive!

Is Tiptronic S really that fast?

I got it too. But I'm supposing those performance numbers are with the optional turbo sports chrono package. The fact that that is an option I find LAME... you can bet it will be expensive.
The car is also way too heavy.

Just returned home from vacation and mine was waiting for me. I don't feel much urgency to trade mine for a new one.

I got the FEDEX too. I think the car looks nice and is technically an improvement over my '05 Turbo S. However, the level of improvement is somewhat underwhelming.

If I didn't own a Turbo, the 997TT looks like a good time to jump into the fold. Still, it doesn't offer enough over the 993TT/996TT to make it a "must have" item.

Is it true that you need to have the Sport Chrono package in order to get the overboost feature?
