How much deposit have you had to pay on your 997 Turbo?
Hi. New to the board, now that the 997 Turbo has finally gone public... I have been number one on the list at my dealer for a few years now, so now that they finally have a car to sell I have been asked to give a deposit. Initially I was told that I would have to pay £5k up front before upping this to 10% when I spec the car. however, I have suddenly been asked for £10k up front just to keep my spot. Out of curiosity, for anyone ordering a car in the UK, what size of deposit have you been asked for?

hey filthy monkey...I think I know you from the "BMW FORUM"... you have an M5 and M6 right?? Welcome.... Well to answer your question I had to put $2k US down... but It varies from dealer to dealer.... I heard in UK they ask for 10k down...is that true??

Hi! Yes, the very same Filthy Monkey...
Looks like they are looking for £10k now. Bit of a surprise and, I have to say, a bit steep! Sounds like you guys have it a lot easier over there...?

Looks like quite a few guys on here are also from M5board.com too and that includes me!
My dealership didn't originally take deposits until you actually ordered the car but now they've changed their policy to take deposits just to get on the waiting list. Initially the deposit was 10% of the cost but I convinced them to take a bit less. This is refundable up until the car is actually being produced.

I'm another M5 board member as well. I was going to add a M6 cab to my M5, that was until I saw pictures of it. Now I am waiting for my TT cab. My dealer asked for 1K, until ordering. We didn't specify anything yet for ordering.

I put $1k down 3 years ago and since I ordered over $30K in options they required me to give another $9K deposit incase I decided to bail on the car ... My $1k would have been sufficient if it was just normally optioned ...
I had this similar question when they asked for more money but all in all they have people lining up at the door for this car at first so they could care less if you get upset or bailed on the car ... You just have to bite your lip and grind through the wait
