Battery Decision

I need to replace the Battery in my car.

Currently I have an:

Interstate MTP-94R/H7 Specs are 12 7/16 L x 6 15/16 W x 7 1/2 H This is a Wet Battery with 790 CCA and 42.9 lbs

Interstate Battery Dealer is Suggesting

Interstate MTX-49/H8 Specs are 13 15/16 x 6 15/16 x 7 1/2. This is an AGM Battery 900 CCA and is 58 lbs

Does anyone know if just moving the battery hold down plate and screw over in the battery tray will accommodate this larger battery securely?

By chance does anyone know if their are benefits to AGM technology over the regular wet batteries?

Thinking why not get more CCA? The extra weight in not a factor for me.

Thanks for any insight.

Ok so unless I hear some compelling reasons to go one way or another I’m going to buy both, try to fit the bigger one and if not fall back to the one equal to what’s in there now.

keep you all posted.

Sobrut911 is infamous around these parts
I went with the AGM after researching it. Porsche Tech Tactics has a great video on batteries. You can view it on YouTube. As far as size, I went with the same dimensions as the battery I was replacing.

Thanks, I will try to find that Video. Which size did you install the H7 or H8?

Let the games begin - I will try to install the larger battery after work tomorrow. Purchased both and will return one or the other.
