Garage Lift..

Hey all,

Wanted to run this by the gang before I commit.

I am going to install a lift in my garage to increase the amount of vehicle storage that I have. It will not be for repair work. The only wrench I own is in hiding and refuses to show itself.

The lift is called a BENDPAK: Model PL-6SP "Parking lift"
It has a single hydraulic cylinder (as the two and four post lifts do not fit in my garage.)
http://www.bendpak.com/default.isg?cPath=358

So I found a local guy who will pick it up, install it, soup to nuts.. The price = $4812 which includes running a electrical sub panel and safety box and piping a 220v connection to the area in the garage.

Lift = $3267
Pickup & Delivery = $175
Install labor = $500
Electrical = $600

They tested my concrete and said that you need 4" of thickness. My garage floor has 6" so that shouldn't be a problem.

Again, just wanted to hear any of your thoughts.

Thanks,
B

just curious as to what you will do with the top of your automatic door opener. I was thinking of a lift also, but the top of the door opener is too low.

You can get industrial garage door openers that mount on the wall vertically. From there it is just a matter of moving the rails up as high as possible on the doors themselves.
