Performance Meters

What is a good performance computer to install in a car? Anything that is good for roll on acceleration, lets say 30-150mph?

The two most popular seem to be the Race Technology LTD AX-22 and the Racelogic Driftbox.

I'll probably be purchasing a Racelogic Driftbox when I return to the US next year.

yea, if youre going to use it only once. if thats the case, just buy a 50-100 dollar g tech meter. not as good but you will get some kind of performance indicator out of it. id say get the ax 22 if you want the most accurate info.

Racelogic has a distributor in the US here in MI. 750 for the unit. If you want PM your email address and I will send some graphs and run logs so you can see what the unit is capable of. I have posted lots of GPS data and graphs with the RL Driftbox. BTW, a British guy on Rennlist bought both units and ran them in the same car at the same time during a Vmax event where the car achieved 193mph and the results were even. AX22 isnt any more accurate than the Dbox, actually it is more prone to error than an Driftbox since it uses satellites AND accelerometers to calculate speed and distance. Dbox is sat only for time and speed with an update rate of 10 times per sec. Check the 60-130 thread and VRalex got erroneous data because the accelerometrs had issues with that much G force. thanks for info. interesting, as i was about to purchase an AX22 instead of the Driftbox. thing is, the AX22 seems to have the most users on here, and it would be nice to share files...

anyone tried the VBox Mini? it is obviously related to the DriftBox-- they even look the same. but someone mentioned before that the Mini actually has a few more features that the DBox doesn't have...

or is the DBox just a clever relaunched version of the Mini, pitched at the drifting crowd (smart move from a marketing standpoint)...

Vbox mini is a Dbox with expandability. It can accept an RPM sensor, slip angle sensor, etc...Dbox has no room to grow.Vbox mini and Driftbox use the exact same GPS engine..10 times per sec update. Kevin

hey thanks for the quick info man!

ok, then its the AX22 vs the VBMini for me then... you mentioned a US distributor for the DriftBox... would you know if they also carry the VBMini? Got a web link?

I can't find any US distributors for Race Technology (AX22).

thanks again!
