New Turbo picked up as scheduled

Amazing, tt was ready in Atlanta as forecast three months ago. Car finished Nov 24th (10 days to build), shipped Dec 4th, arrived in Brunswick, Ga, Dec 15th, on truck the 17th and at the dealer, prep'ed and ready Dec 21st.

tt is plain jane, wanted it that way. Has LSD, sport chrono, CD-changer. thicker-steering mult-funct steering wheel, rear wiper, Arctic silver with gray interior. The car is phenomenal. Traded my '06 M3 which I thought was fast, but this tt is like in another world. Enjoyed the 400 mile trip back to Florida. Dealer said don't worry about any break-in period, just drive it. Which I did and without even over doing it, the tts-passing ability I still find unbelievable. No turbo lag unless you punch it at too low an RPM. The dealer said to expect some loss in oil so provided a case at no charge. Plus I got the day-time driving lights hooked up, which I find absolutely mandatory for fast/furious passing in the right lane and also got the tech to set up the drive-away automatic door locks. Tried to find out if there were any other computer functions that could be set by the technician, but no one at the dealer knew of any besides the day-time lights and auto-door locks. Anyone know of any others?? And finally, got the 6year 100K mile warranty with total tire/rim insurance for a very modest price. This car drives out much more than I ever anticipated. Well worth the price and wait.

i agree with you-i also got a basic turbo-only options lsd, turbo sports chrono and heated seats. i also was lucky, as you were, to have my car delivered ahead of schedule (4 weeks ago). are you saying that you got a 100,000 mile warranty on the whole car, or just the wheels/tires? if it was the entire car, how much did that cost?

No photos this time... the tts look all the same..... Photos are great when the wheels are changed or some body upgrades are done.....However, many times on this site photos/photos/photos....there has to be subjects more of interest than just photos....what about the mechanical aspects of these awesome machines, and more on options, new updates, anything but repeat photos.

Tire insurance

My tt was not delivered ahead of schedule. It was delivered as per the schedule given to me months earlier. For new tt, you can get tire/rim insurance for $600. If anything happens to the tire or rim (not curb rashes), the tire/rim will be replaced at no cost. The tire is covered until unuseable. The 100K warranty is priced differently at different dealers. Mine was running a special. The 100K insurance plan includes the $600 tire insurance so you save the $600 by getting the 100K plan. For pricing, best to check with your dealer, I am sure the 100K plan varies with dealerships, some are real crooks, some try to please the customer. The 100K plan which includes the tire insurance can run from a low cost of $2700 to $3500 or maybe even more depending on the cost-honesty of the dealership. I think the one absolute rule is that at if you want the tire insurance or the 100K plan (with tire insurance included), at a reasonable price, you need to get it within 30 days of buying your tt.

My favourite, getting the side fender blinkers to flash when I signal, instead of being on all the time.

no brainer for me.....6-speed

Can't imagine a tt Porsche without a 6-speed. For me an automatic reduces the fun of the car, seems like the automatics want to do the driving for you. For years with my Vettes, got an automatic so the wife could drive it in an emergency, so here I was stuck with this mindless driving gimic waiting for a never-to-happen emergeny. No more of that. The one advantage to the auto is probably the left foot braking. BMW is now saying there is a this extremely tiny tiny advantage to left foot braking (reason for their pushing SMG), but that would take me months to make the adjustment.

No one mentioned the fender blinkers. Seems like for night-time safety reasons, it might be nice to have the lside lights on all the time, then, just blinking when you signal them to blink. Anymore you can think of. Seems like there should be a list of computer-set functions some where. I know with BMW, one of the web fellows found such a document.

Well, we had a group buy and I really enjoy the auto unlock, door lock/unlock chirps, and other features offered by a $200 (?) third party module.

I for one would like to see photos of the thicker MF wheel. I have yet to see a photo of it although it has been discussed extensively.

Cheers.
