When does PSM kick in?

I got tired of the turbo lag on launching so I turned off the PSM. The launch seems stronger without the bog down I usually feel. I guess the slight wheel spin and keeping the revs up prevents the bog.

Does the PSM ever kick in without the warning light blinking on? The reason I ask is the no-PSM launch seems stronger than with-PSM launches where the light doesn't come on. So does PSM start working without seeing the light? Thanks

I think that unless you see the light blinking you are on your own. PASM is very passive and is like your trainer as it when it steps in you have lost time.

vincy-that is a good question. in my previous cars with psm (997c4s, 996tt), any time the psm worked, or at least it think so, the light came on. sometimes it was detectable by feel, others not. i think there might be another issue. i understand that they have programed the psm to be less intrussive on the 997tt than on the 996tt-in addition, if you have the sport button on, the psm will be even less intrussive. through into that mix the awd, which is affecting your traction. i don't think that i have answered your question, but i have probably raised some issues. maybe some of the experts here can put it all together.

Docjackson1, I have a tip and the sport chrono package. I get the feeling there is more lag with the psm on even without the light coming on.

I think the psm is somewhat intrusive and doesn't allow any slippage at all. This is probably good, but I'm used to Corvettes where it is easy to spin the wheels and get the back end to slid out.

vincy=maybe the tip is part of the issues-with the manual, you could increase the rpm's before engaging the clutch to decrease the lag.

PSM over reacting?

Maybe the PCM over reacts and cuts the power too much. The stability management on my Vet seems to kick in more gradually. I've driven the Vet on the track and the adjustments are gradual, sometimes hard to notice.
