997TT HKG is infamous around these parts
wheels and spacers

I am planning to change the OEM front 8.5x19 +56 rear 11x19 +51 to these BBS wheels http://www.bbs-japan.co.jp/pro/pro_lmr.html size front 8.5x19 +55 rear 11x19 +63. However, to compensate the offsets. I will need to add 5mm spacers in front and 17mms spacers in the rear. so the front +51 rear +46. By changing the offsets, is it going to change the handling? (understeering/ oversteering)? What are the pros/ cons?

i did some hw for those LM-R. they're perfect for narrowbody C2S etc. the spacers u are going to add will not affect the handling much. even factory runs 5 & 17mm spacers for some wheel set up. u'll be fine.

The only issue with the LM-R will be availibility. BBS is being pretty tight-lipped on when they will be ready for sale. I can't get anyone to even say they will be ready in 2007.

Hopefully soon because this is going to be a GREAT wheel.

I have 18mm forged spacers from boothedesign.com and they work fine with my GT3 wheels. Just have to make sure that you check the nuts every now and then. Also use the factory bolts too since they have the proper chamfer angle. I used aftermarket bolts and they kept coming loose.

You'd need longer bolts.

I need a 101-lesson in spacers. Why are they needed with GT3 wheels??. These should fit the turbo?? Are you saying because the 4-wheel drive needs the wheels out further and the GT3s don't do that enough?? Thinking of getting HRE 21s....do these need spacers too?

GT3 is narrowbody. narrower than Turbo. therefore the GT3 wheel need spacers to fit on Turbo. if u're going to build a set of custom wheel such as HRE u will not need to use spacer.

The GT3 RS is based on the widebody and as such their wheels do not need spacers. If you were to use those wheels on the turbo then you wouldn't need spacers.

Narrow body and wide body have different offsets - good starting point is to find out the OEM offsets for the two types (C2 usually uses 57mm F and 67mm R, while the C4 uses 55mm F and 51mm R, hence the need for spacers on the rear). Best bet is to get the offsets and compare using the calculator at www.1010tire.com
