TPMS- can this be bypass on our 997tt?

I am waiting to take delivery of a set of iforge wheels but need to reinstall the oem tpms to these new wheels. I was told asanti makes an adapter that would work. anyone here has any experience or have suggestions to making this work? thanks

i think the basic difference between a wheel that will take the porsche oe tpms and one that won't is due to the difference in the diameter of the valve stem. i can't remember the exact details but eclou probably does as he had his prototype gp7 rim bored out fot tpms.

alternatively you can go through that monster-size owner's manual and figure out how to disable tpms.

Don't think it can be disabled.

based on my previously research on 997 non-turbo, you can't disable it. you will always have the annoying warning light. i would imagine the new iforged should be compatible for your OEM sensor. heck, the 120 dollar low class wheels i saw for my truck is compatible. your other option is to tie the sensor in side the wheel. this was commonly done in the past as no wheels are compatible with OEM sensor. if your ordered your iforged new and just recently, i would demand that they machine the valve area to fit your sensor. it would be ridiculous otherwise. good luck.

thx fellas. Iforge did informed me that they are in the process of releasing their very own adapter to be used with our OEM TPMS. I will touch base with them again tmw as I would hate to deal with any lights on the dash...

You can not turn it off. I have tried. The command is not in the PIWIS.

The issue is the stem. The sensor attaches to the stem in the back. If the wheels require their stem your are sunk.

The actual TPMS stem will fit into any stem hole of any wheel. The issue lies with

1)the plastic retaining nut on the outside is about 15mm wide which is 2mm larger in diameter than a regular metal retaining nut. It is the lower right item in the picture

2)the valvestem angle when attached needs to be almost horizontal and near parallel to the barrel, otherwise the sensor when attached will not be flush with the barrel of the wheel and will get damaged with tire mounting. In the photo you can see how flush the sensor sits on the barrel. Some valvestem holes are drilled almost vertically on the lip of the rim which will not be compatible

Stephen-

Apparently you can.

The problem is that the field rep. won't tell my technician friend at the dealership how to do it!

He has been bugging him for months....

However, the guy did say that it can be done.

The guy working on it is the same guy that helped us disable the PASM without a faults. If he figures it out, I will let everyone know.

It would have to be a hard wire solution then because the command in the PIWIS is not present. I have been through it back and forth. It is silly because we can VAG the ones out in the VW but Porsche will not allow us to remove it. I am wondering if a EU2 or EU4 mode kills it since perhaps some of the other countries may not have this function.

stupid question, but can you just weld the oem tpms inside the wheel without having to mount it to the back of the valve stem?

Yes, but it would read atm pressure and you would get a flat tire error.
