The A8/S8 is my favorite big sedan... I am also a big fan of the BMW 5-series - why not get a loaded 550i?

Did you consider the M5 or the already mentioned RS6 ? looking at the 85k for the A8

Hope this is not going to make your decision even more difficult

no, not considering either. I want a big sedan. so its A8 or S550. S550 is way more expensive, plus the fact that I can get such a sweet deal on an A8. So I am leaning towards the A8.

No need to have a ton of performance in every vehicle. I'm with you on the thought of having a big sedan to just relax and cruise in. With that said, I think the A8 is a great car and would prefer a lease over a purchase considering resale value. I find that the only drawback to owning the 8, but you got that covered. IMO, I think your expectations will be met with abundance in 8. Goodluck with whatever you go with!

Sell the M3 and the MDX, but the S550 and a true track car.

I can't say much about the S550 but the A8 was a better car all around than the 750i. It handled better, had way better interior and was smoother. AWD is also handy in those rare situations.
