997 GT3 or 07 turbo

I am looking at both. have had TT in the past-last was a 996. Drove a 996 GT3 today and it was fun. I will use it only as a street car for fun driving only. I am sure this has been discussed before but can't find the thread. Would appreciate comments from those who have experience both. No track usage planned, just which is most fund for the street. Thanks

Try ask Fred, he had both 997 should give you better feedback.
If you are not planning for any track usage, I will pick the Turbo because it is more comfortable. I had 996 GT2 in the past and drove a 996 TT and I feel in love with TT on street, simply it is more comfort for a daily use.

the 997gt3 is apparently a bit freindlier to drive than the 996gt3, which probably was a bit too unforgiving (ride wise) on routine roads. i have driven a 996gt3-haven't driven a 997gt3. i have a 997tt. a gt3 appears to be for an owner who has track use in mind, with the possibility of some street use. if street use is your main purpose, i would say that it is a no brainer-get the turbo. the turbo lets you make the ride a bit plusher if you want, or you can keep it stiff. it's acceleration, to 100 mph, is amongst the best, considering any car (z06. f430, viper, etc). from what you describe, you need a turbo.

Another thing you might want to ask yourself is how important 2 rear seats are for you. If the answer is yes then you won't have much of a choice. I bought a 997TT for that reason and many others.......

GT3 is probably more fun (although I've never driven one) but I suspect if this is for 100% street use, you will eventually wish you bought the TT. Don't forget the tires on the GT3 are MUCH more likely to hydroplane, so I'd swap them out if it will be a daily driver. My choice...the Turbo.

If its purely going to be a street car than I think a TT would be a better choice. Since you previously owned a TT you would probably prefer it. If you go with a GT3 you will probably have to swap out the tires for PS2's.

GT3 is much more special, but this is so to each his own kinda thing... tough to measure.

I'd most definitely go for the GT3.

more on this choice

I just spoke to one of my retired doctor friends who is the co-editor and photographer for Panarama magazine and a real porsche authority. He pretty much test drives the p cars in Germany each year. He doesn't know about significant changes yet but his dream car is a GT3. He knows me wells since we practice for over 30 years in same medical system. He says for me the TT would be more suited. You can't go to wrong on either. Funny but he is one of the few who likes the handling of the 996 GT3 better then the 997 version.

For fun, driving a couple days a week - GT3
For daily driving, comfort, power - TT

Or just buy my TT which will give you both pleasures ;-)
