Dawn seems to be the only thing that works for me on the back of the car. The soot from the oil builds up too much and only Dawn can cut it.

I agree, don't use it on a new car. As for discoloring seals, didn't happen to any of my cars but I use a capful (2 teaspoons) in a bucket full of water. I only use it before a major detail job (once a year).
