here are the real prices:
997s : 114 800$ ($109 400)
GT3 : 147 300$ ($140 400)
turbo : 170 700$ ($162 700)

CDN turbo base is $170,700. with the exchange this would make $ 160,458, yet the US base price is right around $122,000 I think.
WAY cheaper to buy these cars in the US.
I know, mine is in the truck heading for the border, to be delivered to our shop at 8pm tonight. I will be standing there with a plate in my hand ready to take it for a drive.........................

Buying a car in the USA when you're canadian is a mess! A lot of paperwork + a lot of duty and taxes at the border. But I guess it's worth it when there's 20k+ in price difference.

We pay a lot to drive nice cars in Australia. Base price of a 997 TT is around US$280,000 (AU$327,000). By the time you add a few options and pay the basic government charges to get the car registered for road use a more realistic price is US$320,000 - 330,000. Then we have to pay around US$1.30 per litre for fuel and other consumables like tires are much more expensive than the US too. The high price is largely due to the Australian governments nasty habit of having it's hand in your pocket pretty much all of the time.
On top of that we have ridiculously low speed limits here (much like most of the US) and a demerit point system so that it's easy to have your licence suspended for a couple of relatively minor infringements. Speed cameras and red light cameras everywhere, state governments would go broke without them.
Having said all that there are still plenty of Aussie nuts like me who love high performance cars and our auto industry has just had it's best 12 months ever!

Simply had our broker do the paper, will pay the taxes ( which we will get back,GST) and sent our own tractor down to retrieve the car..... SIMPLE and cost effective to say the least.
