Porsche Profits

Came across this last night....

http://www.mobilemag.com/content/100/354/C11441/

$28,000 profit per car produced. Believable?

I think more like 16-18% is more realistic. Which is still a lot of dough per unit but I am not sure end of year is so great comparatively speaking in terms in Honda and Toyota profits.

An article recently showed the Turbo invoices at 106K and MSRP is $122,600(2007 model) - roughly 14%. BMW has been known to enjoy this kind of markup as well but perhaps don't have the staying power to keep the MSRP on their cars as long as Porsche.

So I guess it's not a lot of ask for 3-5% off the cars?

The article is talking about manufacturer profits, not dealer profits.

I believe this article is talking about the profits that Porsche the company is making on each of their sold units. This is not saying the individual dealerships are making this kind of money on each car.

No actually it is about that. It dosent matter though. They are producing even less 08s so the price will be at sticker or pretty damn close.

Yea for '08s with so few coupes being made I'd imagine most sales will be at the sticker price.

Ahh even worse!! So 28K plus 16K is A LOT OF K's!!

If so then they need to continue to limit the 997TT's so we don't take a hit across the mouth so fast.

Those profits listed are the differences between what Porsche produced the car for and what the dealerships bought the car for. On top of that is the $15k+ hike to MSRP in which the car is sold for! Def. a profitable product!
