Ramp recommendations?

I want to get a ramp so I can work under the car (and change the front lip ) Is there a particular ramp people here recommend?

A lot of people with low cars recommend rhino ramps. I have a set but don't have my TT yet so I can't comment on them for this particular car. However, I usually jack up the car and lower it onto the ramp rather than drive up on them.

I didn't know there was a number attached, but it looks like the number refers to the weight it is rated for. A lot of the Vette guys use these and I think Corvettes would be just as low as the TT.

these ramps can be had at walmart for a reasonable price. you are best going with the more heavily rated one as far as its ability to withstand heavier loads not because of the weight of your car, but because of your tires. the ramps designed with a higher weight rating are much wider and as such accomodate the rear tires fairly well.

Let me know which one you end up getting and whether it works because I'd like to do the same too. I currently have a floor jackstand and some lifts but I think having a rhino ramp would be safer.

Funny you guys should bring up the topic of ramps because just one hour ago i deceided to try out the set up I purchased from Groits Garage. They come with extensions to accomadate low profile cars BUT now I understand that according to the manual that came with the ramps the maximum width tires that they will accomadate is 9 inches wide? I am afraid that the rears are too wide for them but I'm sure they would work. Are they safe that way..absolutely not! keep me posted if anyone comes up with a set of wide ramps that will accomadate both front and rears of the turbo without rubber hanging over the edge. I also purchaced his hydralic jack, and its the best jack i have ever used on a car (made in spain). I am not affiliated with Griot in any way and if your interested google that name for his website. Keep me posted if anything comes to mind thats safe and that works.

I used to put my Z06 up on rhino ramps. The rears were 295 and were wider than the ramps but I felt safer with it on ramps than on jackstands. As mentioned above, I always jacked it up and set it down on the ramps instead of driving it onto the ramps. I don't think it should be a problem with the TT doing it this way.

i know that my father's lotus esprit with 285 rear tires can back up onto the rhino ramp 1200's and be decently accomodated. it was pretty close however so you might do well to find a pair in a retail store and take appropriate measurements before purchasing.

I ordered the Rhinoramp 12000, which apparently are wider than the 8000. They were pretty cheap ($45+shipping) so I thought I'd give them a try, rather than running around all over town. My first job is raising the front, which has narrower tires than the rear. I'll let you know when I get them how they work.

BTW, I ordered a new front lip from Sunset Imports for $132.

If you want ramps that work with low cars, check out the Tomioka ramps (formerly Takata). They are only about 3 or 4 inches high but they are good for lifting the front end a bit if you want to work on the front lip or something like that.

I got the Rhino ramps and sorry to say, they don't come anywhere close to being low enough for the front of the car. I'll have to give the Tomioka ones or the Trac-Jax a try.

Those race ramps sound nice but at an estimated price of 3-400 bucks it'll take a number of diy oil changes for it to even pay for itself. Guess I'll keep looking...
