It would be interesting to get your car on a dragstrip and see how much power it's actually making?
You're like me.. you like to run 100 most of the time Even 93 is so much better than 91. It's a shame that we have get such crappy gas out here... These cars need more octane...

Is it my fault that there's a station with 100 octane at the pump 3 miles from where I live? Heck, the price difference @ $3.50 for 91 and $5.20 for 100 octane, isn't even very large.

At my car's power level, air temps seem to make a bigger difference for power than octane. Perhaps that's a sign that it's time to put in better ICs..

What gear are you guys doing this in? Also remember the gauge is not that accurate. However in 5th gear at 2K mashing the throttle in sport mode you should hit 18PSI by 3K RPM. If not then something is amiss. The biggest killer as Ben as mentioned is heat! Keeping in mind I still see these levels and it has average 101 for the last week and a half here with at least 50% humidity.

You're lucky. 100 octane over here is $8 a gallon.

You know what is interesting? I have an Actron scanner that I sometimes use while running the car. The stock IC's keep the IAT's within 13-16 degF in nl driving. It becomes less effective when under spirited driving - IAT's creep over 120F when ambient is 90F+. I think some new IC's would make a big difference in sustaining power under prolonged conditions.

Yes it is! And it's my fault too... I found one here that sells 110 LEADED only 7 miles from the shop as well

And as for the ICs... no more mods for you You are fast enough heh...

Please tell me what mods you have and what boost you are seeing in psi.

Thanks!

Pass by Courtneys shop and put the scanner on for giggles. Maybe some code somewhere not showing up. Also, check all the hoses at intercoolers. DV's maybe.

eclou... I usually have the track orientated guys use the ICs for that reason. Temps get really high at the track in summer especially and with sustained sessions it seems to help

I'll try to do some datalogging at the dragstrip this weekend. It the IATs are 30+ degrees above ambient, there's real power to be made with an IC improvement.

Jamie,

sunoco 93 is made with a 10% blend of gasohol. it makes your car run hotter and is less efficient than pure gas. try using shell 91 octane which is 100% gas (for now).

Eugene, do you think the hotter egt caused by gasohol causes retarded timing?

Hmmm. This is interesting because we have alot of blended fuels down here using ethanol. I never paid attention to it but it is something to consider. I have not found how to read the EGT numbers on my scanner yet. I can get the cat temps easily but that wouldn't if the timing is getting pulled from EGTs.
