Never had an issue with my passport, but I wouldn't mind trying a V1. I just wish it had an auto mute.

Automute I thought I liked it to. But I found myself getting used to the alerts in certain areas and ignoring it. Then I said I wish the v1 had a button on cigaret lighter to mute radar. But the 911 you are so close to front window pushing the one on the unit is easy as can be.. I love it

deebster is infamous around these parts
I never had any problems with my x50, it was stolen and was replaced with the Escort i9800 which is much better. The GPS feature is tons better than arrows, what do you need arrows for? When it beeps you slow down regardless where the arrow is pointing.

You never used the arrows thats why you dont understand.

The point is if you are driving and it beeps on you you know if the cop is in front of you. So for example if it beeps and it points ahead and moves to the rear you know you passed the cop and you can start speeding again. With a passport it beeps and you have to guess when you can speed back up and hope they are not running a speed trap ahead of you and you see it just as you speed up.

Cops now are not driving with the radar on but rather turning it on when they need it. So if a car half a mile ahead gets hit and your radar points foward you know that somone got hit right in front of you slow down till you see a cop once you pass him your free and clear.

You understand the point....?

IMO arrows and GPS are both useless to me. I dont care where the radar is, I slow down for a while. And I dont want to reach for my hardwired, not conveniently located to reach detector to label a spot via GPS.

I wish they would both axe those functions and shrink the unit down while adding better performance!

Your about 4% of the market that feels that way (just throwing % out)

In my 997 I am so close to the radar I could push the GPS button no problem by just reaching my hand out (if i had it) But instead I push the mute button on my V1 when I want to mute it.

I guess your not a speed freak like most of us and slow down to long

Im not much of a speeder but we all zone a bit on occasion and find ourselves well above the limit. Hell I find myself speeding more in the Hybrid, takes so long to get up there Im not slowing down unless its really necessary!

You have to be kidding. I guess you have never had a V1. Letting you know that the alert is coming from the rear or front is priceless. I have the 9500i passport too and next to my V1....no comparison. The GPS system is next-to useless except for the lady letting you know that the GPS hookup is now recognized. This business of Escort and Passport even close to a V1 is crap...the only ones saying that are ones never having owned a V1.

For those who have not tried a V1 - give it a try. They have a return policy if you don't like it. But I'd bet that most people trying it would decide to keep it and ditch their current unit.

i've heard that the v1 is far superior to the passport. i purchased the passport without doing any research first. i've been happy with it so far. i don't have the v1 to compare it to, but as far as tickets go, none! i'm crossing my fingers and toes!

Just got a passport 9500 and am very happy with it. I have a V1 in one car and the 9500 in the other. They both detect fine, but the passport, after about a week of "training", is always quiet unless there is a "real" threat, which has been confirmed several times. I love the silence the passport provides. With the V1, I am just used to passing certain spots and either ignoring it or muting it. I sold my two V1's and will now replace them all with the 9500.
