So I bought a V1 and have a Passport

I could not stand the (need service) garbage on my passport and it did not go off one night and I got a warning 55 in a 35. So I said **** it im dropping $500 and buying this *****.... this thing is awsome! I have used my bros but it is not all the way updated with latest software.

So i sent passport in and will use it as a back up incase I need it.

I dusted off my passport and got the self calibration thingy NON STOP. Back when I bought it I picked it over the V1 which turned out to be a mistake. Passports are famous for it and at $50 or $60 a 'fix' I say no thank you. Wont buy another Passport needless to say.

I have had a Passport for years but I can't compare it to the V1 because i never owned one. The Ka signal on the Passport has saved my *** so many times I lost track. Next time around I might go for the V1 but I'll wait until this one stops working.

No comparison between the two units. The V1 is outstanding, the passport doesn't come close. I have even compared my V1 to the new 9500i unit. That is junk too. The V1 alerts a 1/4 mile earlier in all modes (except Ka which is a little closer) over the 9500i. Even the 9500-GPS system is crap. Now I have resorted to V1 up front and 9500 out back. They don't interfere in the same vehicle which was a surprise to me. Often I hear these reports that the escort products compare somewhat with V1, not sure where/how folks get this data because it is just not true.

Ok, well i own a V1.. and i honestly don't think these raders are accurate at all. ive seen a few police cars in my mirrors and the V1 just kept quiet. It didnt signal like i wanted it to do. Weird.........

In case you didn't know, those things only go off if the police cruisers are using their radar guns on you. Just because they're cruising around you doesn't mean that they are. That's why they're called RADAR detectors instead of POLICE detectors.

Then they don't have their radar on. There's that possibility that the V1 is is busted, but I have have 5 of them over the years with no problems. I get an upgrade everytime one is offered.

Just sell the passport. You'll hate trying to use it as a backup. I had a passport and replaced it with a V1 in my main car and moved the passport to the SUV. Two weeks later I ordered another V1 and now will have one installed in any new car I get, hopefully before I even pick it up

Be careful with the V1, I used mine and it fell from the suction cups letting go, and put a nice divot in my dash. Luckily, it wasn't on my TT! Those things are heavy with sharp pointy corners.

I tried the V1 on window and visor. At two miles, same response with K-band fixed source. I keep mine on the visor. Easier to remove if needed and no accidents with it coming off the windshield which can happen in a tt with its tremendous acceleration.

Both Larry and I have placed our V1s here:

We've both found this place to be the most optimal in terms of reception and if it ever falls off, it usually just hangs there without falling down towards the dash. Just make sure that the power jack is attached securely.
