Skyline GTR unofficial time of 7:38 @ Nürburgring
Guys, chill out!
Nobody is saying anything bad about our cars. But some people definitely need to give credit where its due. The Z06 is a great performance car. Just like the Skyline series. They are all great performance cars.
Personally, I would never buy a Z06 because of its cheap *** interior and American sized everything, from pedals, to seat, to its huge overall dimension (I am Asian, living in Asia). As for the new Skyline, in terms of performance, I wouldn't be surprised if it were on par with our 997 TT. Based on the past Skyline series, if the new Skyline is tuned, watch out!

I think GTR is an awesome bargain, it would be a great looker and performer too, I cant wait to get mine, I am sure the 997 TT would have to worry about the V-spec GTR for sure, I highly doubt the 7:38 time myself, but hey who knows, nissan can take this out of their hat like chevy did with the Z06 and will do with the ZR-1.
It would be interesting to see if the Evo-GTR version was the one that they were running for the 7:38 mark which is possible considering it is going to be 200 lb lighter than whatever the GTR already is will have 530hp, that leaves with a 50k price diff between the 911 and GTR when equiped and I am sure the Evo would come pretty much packed with all the options..but if it really is the V-spec that ran 7:38, oh boy!!
Lets wait and see, it wouldnt be long, the tokyo show is just around the corner..

I have yet to see a super car come out of Japan that can "set aim" at a CGT. They need to "set aim" at the GT2, which, mark my words, they will not be able to beat.
The Z06 is no longer the cheap way to go fast.
I think that the 'vette market is very different than the GTR market.
I can't imagine there will be too many 'vette owners wandering down to Nissan and buying a GTR.
'vette owners are "way too tough" to drive a "little Japanese car".
Given the GTR's performance and refined luxuries, the GTR is more closely related to our turbos than the 'vette.

The GT-R will cost as much as the Z06. Period. And it will carry a big markup for a long time, especially with all the garbage hype.
Nissan has already said the car will have 480 hp and similar torque. We know it's AWD and will weigh in access of 3400 lbs at the very LEAST.
Yet we are supposed to beleive it can lap a track as fast as a CGT??????
Nissan is only damaging their own credibilty (AGAIN) because eventually they will have to allow someone else to test a produtcion version vs Z06's, Vipers, TT's etc.
It's pretty clever of them to get horst van suarma (sp) to drive since he will test for sport auto likely and have a lot of seat time in the car already.
Nissan has their marketing ploy in gear, but I'd put money on all the air coming out of the sails when the car hits the streets.
Well the confusion is that they arent saying which model of GT-R it is. There are "supposed" to be 3 iterations of the car coming out. The base model is similar spec as the 997 TT. Then the top model is almost exact spec as the GT2.
They are also not revelaing tire compound or anything. Nothing will be told until TMS, so we'll just have to put up with this for another month.
The most recent info is 3836 lbs for the GT-R and this is from the borchure that people have in japan. This is pretty much official. We wouldnt hear anything for the fanboys but threatening news, so I thought I'd post this info as well.
So how can a car with equal HP, but more weight, be faster around a track?
But if weighs that much, then forget it.
