997.1 is pretty generic and straight forward, same steering wheel for manual 6 speed, tiptronics and multifunction wheel, all you need to do just switch the control module from wheel to wheel, however, the 997.2, the T-trim can be replaced but I don't really know whether the connection is compatible to 997.1
Maybe some experienced member here can help!

Regards

Yes it can be done. The 997.2 wheel whether it's a PDK or 6MT can be retrofitted to a 997.1 for use with tiptronic or 6MT. The wheel requires a new airbag specific to the 2009 and onwards wheels and then an inexpensive control module for that airbag which can be ordered and obtained through any Porsche dealer. I was quoted ~$100 for the part when I was considering a 997.2 wheel.

I am thinking of getting a gen 2 multifunction stearing wheel for my gen1, are you sure that all functions will be working? Have you done it? What does it costs?

thx

The dealer will sell you a new airbag + a new control module for around $120 (just the control module, airbag is way more money) to fit the wheel. All that is required is for the computer to be reprogrammed to enable the MF part and you're good to go.

07 TT Wheel

Hey Ivan,

I have this wheel on my Turbo and I don't like it.
It is to thin and I don't like the carbon on the top of the wheel.

Let me know what my options are for upgrades. My deviated stitching
throughout the interior is white.

Thanks,
Pete

Pete:
The thickness of OEM Porsche steering wheels always bother the drivers especially for those who moved from BMW M-cars or VAG performance models.
you have many options, If you want to get rid of carbon from your steering wheel, this will be very good option
Sporty design, with extra thick side grips and WHTIE stitching to match the rest of your car. With our extra thick side grips, you will feel very comfortable and tight controling your powerful monster. And you will never go back to OEM wheel.

Here is the close up for extra thick side grips

If you still want to keep some carbon sections on the wheel, we can make the 2 sections on the new wheel with 1x1 carbon weave. It is optional
Contact us if you have further questions, we will make a steering wheel meet your needs.

Ivan
