6speed made me buy it (pics)
Hello, after lurking on this forum for 6 months I finally broke down and bought a 997. It just showed up this week so I havn't done anything to it yet. The very first thing I'm going to do is have the city flatten my driveway curb
Then I was thinking doing some minor tuning, any suggestions? I'm going to use this as my daily driver so don't suggest things that will prevent me from going over speed bumps or into parking garages. And don't make fun of me for getting the automatic - I sit in traffic enough and have an Audi RS4 6 speed I drive when I want the gears

There are a bunch more pics at http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/06...Porsche%20911/
Enjoy - alex

Very nice, seems more luxury than sport (full leather without sport seats, interior painted trim etc.). You spent decent money on turbo wheels as well. If you are concerned about speed bumps, parking garages, entering your driveway etc., I wouldn't lower it which would normally be the first modification...you aren't going to change the wheels or add a front lip. First thing you need to do is tint the windows. After that, what are you thinking you want to do? Chip, plenum, airbox, exhaust?
To TA. or not
I really like the car modded here http://www.techart-presse.de/ishow/g...formII&kat=997
But I'm sure using it as a daily driver w/ those mods would not be a good idea. I actually like the sideskirts and front bumper on the 997 but i'm sure if I lowered it I'd want to change that.
I don't want to void the warranty at least for a year since its new, so I'm probably going to have to stay with cosmetics for now, right? My local audi place doesn't care what I do to my cars but they know me well. Not sure of the porsche dealers around here.

Porsche is pretty good about day to day service. My experience is that even with mods they don't bother you for "normal" warranty repairs. They recognize that most Porsche buyers are die hard car guys. But if something major happens and you've done modifications they won't cover it. I had a 95 993 that I did tons of stuff to. I took the car to the track all the time and had everything from suspension, brakes and engine work (of course cosmetic work too). The dealer serviced the car without any issues. Then the steering rack failed. They would only cover the cost for a rebuilt unit, not a new one. They said it was hard to cover the cost for new because technically, the warranty was voided by the modifications. If they were audited would have been a problem for them. Again, this is only my experience, not sure it is indicative of the norm.
You have a great car there, very nice looking ... And for traffic, nothing better than an AT.
Congrats..!
