Basalt Black?

Need your input, getting ready to order a C4S, is basalt black a little easier to take care of as compared to standard black? Does it hide dirt and scratches a little better? For those that own a basalt black car, have you regretted your choice?

hello,

we don't regret our choice at all. it doesn't seem to show as much dirt, swirl marks, and/or water spots. we have had the regular black before as well. IMHO, the basalt has been easier to maintain as far as waxing. we spent more time perfecting our detailing on the straight black. the detail on the basalt didn't seem to be as tedious.

either one are gorgeous, i have appreciation for both shades! =)

congrats on your upcoming purchase!

Good luck on your upcoming purchase, Basalt black does seem to be easier to maintain and looks terrific as it shows some light golden metallic sparkles to the paint.

If you want an easier paint you should consider Special Colour GT Silver.

Straight black all the way...it's a ***** out car...don't chicken out on the black...nothing looks better (IMHO).

BB is a great choice and hides dirt better than standard black. Both look great though...

I had flat black and when it was clean, it looked great. I spent so much time detailing it, that it started to drive me crazy. Even after two days of driving, it would get so dusty looking that I would have to quick detail it. I have Polar silver now and it looks great almost all the time. I don't think I would ever go back to the flat black, because of my OCD tendencies!

I have had two black 911's and would not get another. Too much trouble. My brother in law has a basalt GT3 and it looks awesome and appears to be a bit easier to maintain.

mine is basalt black. i've also had a black merc. both are about the same. basalt black is just a shade lighter. you'll be happy with either.

I have an '06 997 Basalt Black that I just fininshed detailing and many people comment on the color. It looks great.

My Dad owns a '00 996 Black and it looks good with less shimmer. It looks darker when really clean but dirties faster.

I think you will be very happy with the Basalt.
