Porsche made a mistake when they built my car
I brought my 997 in to the dealer today to have my front left brake caliper replaced under warranty. It was working fine but somehow my car was assembled with one blank brake caliper. By blank I mean it did not have Porsche painted on it like the other three did. I bought the car new last March and I noticed this the first time I washed my car. The dealer said they have never seen this happen before and said they would replace it whenever I wanted to bring my car in. It really doesnt bother me but I am afraid when I sell my car that someone may think that it has been crashed since it didnt match. I've got 7K miles on my car now so I am having it serviced while they have it. Has anyone else ever seen anything like this?

I would agreed.
I had a legal case against a MB dealer years ago about non-disclosure of damage to a CL. To my surprised, it was disclosed through the case that about 10% of all cars shipped suffered some sort of transportation damage, whether small or large.
Moral of the story? Always ask whether the car you are looking at had any damage during transport, and make them write it down in the paperwork.
You never know. I would go back to the dealer and ask!!!

I think the amazing part of this story is that you just (8 months & 7K miles later) caught the 'oversight'. I think most Porsche owners tend to be a bit **** and/or acutely aware of their 'babies'. I for one would have noticed that the 'Porsche' decal was missing from one of the calipers in a heart beat.
Have you checked other areas to make sure everything else is there? (lol)

wait aren't those collectors coins usually some ****ed up minted process with imperfection?
i would have kept it and advertise as one of only few in the world with one missing Porsche brake caliper printed from factory!
limited edition right there

until you take the wheel off and realize that the caliber was not even hooked up with the brake system....

Just kidding....

I have similar story but on a lesser scale...
On my 05 C2S, I have 2 colored wheel crest that were the newer bigger crest on one side, while the other size had the old smaller crest...
Did Porsche try to clean their old inventory by installing the older style on one side, so that I wouldn't notice... Took me a year to realize it... LOL
