rear fog light

I just found out yesterday after taking my car to the dealer that there is only a fog light in the rear left side of the taillight. So if you have the fog light on in the rear and you hit the brakes it seems like the left side of the taillight is brighter than the right. This is very weird.

There is only one so that people traveling behind you in low visability do not misinterpret you as an oncoming vehicle. The purpose of the light is so that they see that you are in front of them, without this feature alls that the cars behind you can rely upon is your tailights. It is a good thing it is set up this way.

yeah until I learned what it was I used to have it on all the time not knowing. Now I know...what it is and its use and function and it is pretty cool.

You dont have to have it on all the time...just dont turn it on...

I initially thought my car was broken at first. My old Porsche had this parking setting where only the driver's side lights (front and rear lamps) would stay on so that no one would bump into your car at night while parked in a narrow street.

Another Euro lighting quirk - shut the car down with the turn signal on.

You can do a simple mod. to get the other side light up. Make sure to use lower wattage. My friends and I did a few cars with this mod. so when we get together and do a run at night we stand out from the rest of the Porsche.

My rear fogs both go bright red like I am hitting the brakes.. I usually flip it on when people are tailgating.

Yo DT...you did that on PURPOSE?? I swear on the runs when I am behind you I thought your brake lights were broken! Cuz it is bright on all the time. You may get a ticket for that...I am not sure. When following you...it looks like your brake lights are on all the time....So I dont know if that is what you want....I thought something was wrong with your lights...

Did you modify it so both go on? Every 997 I've seen only has one rear fog lamp.

exactly...its supposed to be the driver side only...the left for us US versions.

having both on doesnt seem to make sense to me...as stated above it just looks like your brakes are on all the time.
