I am thinking of doing a stock oem exhaust swap with someoen that has a PSE. Is there a easy way to take out his switch and move it to m car? Anyone done a swap/mod like this?

 

Skip his switch and direct wire a switch from the fuse box to the solenoid for complete on/off control. I have it and love it!! My switch is in the ash tray and can be hidden.

 

From extensive reading on the PSE, I would recommend against it and go after-market.

 

I need to chime in here with a biased opinion but you will find most of 6speeders love their PSE. PSE is not for performance but sound and look and convience.

Most aftermarket exhaust sound cheap except Tubi. Most tuners will tell you the same thing

I respect your opinion. I'd go with PSE as well if I wasn't concerned with performance or weight.

For the price, I'd expect at least a modicum of performance going along with the sound.

 

How do you know you are not getting a "modicum of performance" with the PSE ? Lol
If there were anything measureable to get from a muffler alone ( and I don't think there is ) you would most certainly get it when you bypass 2/3 of the mufflers in PSE mode
(I doubt many , if any , aftermarket mufflers will have less backpressure )

Regarding weight , I personally am not concerned .
My " butt dyno " is not sensitive enough to detect a 5 lbs. difference one way or the other in a 355 hp car.

Change your mufflers if you want a different sound .
If you want it to sound like a Porsche , get PSE .
If you don't mind internal resonance problems ,or have it sound like a Honda on Steroids, get... whatever

If you expect a performance gain, save your money.

 

I'm not going to be so ridiculous as to say I can feel five pounds, it's more so the principle of the matter.

In my opinion if I'm buying something such as an exhaust while yes it's namely for sound, I'd like to see at least something in the way of performance.

If there was a performance benefit Porsche would tout it as so (in all fairness they might not of to avoid any legal troubles down the road).

As cool as switching between loud and quiet is, I see it as a gimmick [at least on a sports car].
