List of "I Did Not Know That!"

Hello Everyone!

6speedonline.com is such a great place for Porsche related information!

I did a SEARCH and could not find anything like this.

Can everyone who has discovered something cool, or "I did not know that" about their Porsche, please list what was learned, read or discovered about their car that others may not know.

Most items will probably be in the "Manual" but not everyone reads it from start to finish.

I will start:

1) Sport Chrono stopwatch gage rotates left and right for better viewing.

2) Engine compartment lid "Release Cable" is located behind left side tail light.

Thanks everyone!!!

Yea! That has confused several people!

Here is another one...

With the lights switched off, place the turn indicator lever up or down, it will illuminate the parking lights for the corresponding side.

I didnt know my doors had pockets in them for several months. I also didnt know the oil filter is not a screw on but a cartridge. I learned to shift from 1st to 3rd gear until my car is warmed up. Eco button makes the car a little quicker by leaving the ac compressor off. I have also learned proper jackpoints and jackstand points that the owners manual wont tell you.

Hey Andy all good finds that you mentioned!

Would one of the jacking points be the thick casting area on the engine!?

Hey rah79,
I read somewhere that mishref performed a hack/mod to get both rear fog lights to work!

Here is one I found while driving:
Push the turn signal lever momentarily up or down (right or left turn) and it will automatically function for three blinks!

Hmmm....the dealer told me there is no fog light in the rear passenger side so how can he do a hack? Unless there is a slot for a bulb and he had it installed then hacked it. I would like to know what he did though.

Thanks .
There is a spot just behind the oil pan almost centered between the rear wheels that is used by race teams and porsche mechanics regularly. As far as the jackstands go, I always place them under the large brace that is connected to either side of the frame just in front of the oil pan. I have heard that this is a safe jacking point also but would require a long arm on the jack to extend beyond the rear bumper.

Yes, I have since used this spot several times to remove my wheels for cleaning, installing and uninstalling different mufflers and tips, and to bring my wheels to have new tires mounted (thought it would be cheaper this way). Dont ever rely on a jack to hold your car up, one should always use jackstands and some people even slide their wheels under the car once they are removed for a little cheap insurance.

No hack .. it came that way. My fogs light up both rear lights in red .. could be a RoW/Gulf spec.

Took me a while to realize that my car does come with an air compressor and spare tire took kit, nicely hidden behind the carpet inside the front trunk...

Also, took me a while to realize that when the PSE is in Normal mode, only two of the four exhaust pipes have exhaust gas coming out. When PSE in Sport mode, all four exhaust pipes have exhaust gas coming out.

Regards,
