Cost of exhaust system install?

I'm looking to have a full AWE exhaust(headers, cats, muffler) install done to replace the stock. What is a reasonable price that I should expect from a descent body shop? I have never done this before and I would do it myself if it was a honda but unfortunately I'm not a pro like most of you on here.

Thanks!!!

Raj

I bet a tech at the dealer could get it done in under an hour. Really easy install to do. I can get both mufflers off in under 30 minutes w/o power tools or a lift. Manifolds even shorter than that.

Labor should be around $150.

Thanks Triple!

I have the Sport Chrono package so is there any special way it needs to be installed for the console switch to work? or anything else that I should know? Just want to be sure the shop gets it done right.

Wow that sounds great for headers, cats and mufflers!

I don't think the AWE exhaust has the option to make it louder/softer using the sport button. I believe that feature is limited to the PSE (Porsche Sport Exhaust)

To be honest I wouldn't be suprised if an exhaust shop quotes you more to install it than $150 just because that is the nature of the business when they see a european car come in. That is why if possible just take it to the Porsche dealer. They will have a standard rate they charger per hour, and should be able to give you a quote based on how long it will take them to do the swap. It really shouldn't take them longer then 1.5 hours to unbolt everything and then put the new system up using all the right tools.

Well I currently have the stock mufflers and I can make it sound sportier or just regular with the sport mode on/off so I would assume AWE will be able to do the same.

I think I will ask my local Porsche dealer on the quote...hope it doesnt affect warranty.

Thanks again!

This is a P.S.E. feature and I'm pretty AWE's system does not offer this.

If your car already has the porsche sport exhaust, I would just swap the cats and manifolds and not use the AWE mufflers. The PSE is a $2400 option so you might as well keep the PSE mufflers.

No I don't have PSE....wish I did. It's a more expensive option so I went with the AWE

Not too hard to figure out if you know the shop labor rate - $90/hour times 4 hours = $360...as I said, should be no more than this.

If you don't have PSE then the Sport switch doesn't affect your mufflers.

This is correct, no PSE, then switch doesn't change sound.

If you can turn a wrench, you can do this yourself. Not difficult at all, a shop should be able to do this in less than 2 hrs max.

"Doc-
Install will take less then 5 hours. You can wait here for it...
$382.50"

This is a quote that I received from A.W.E. concerning the very same install. I plan on having them do it when it warms up next spring!
