Farnbacher Loles 997S Mods

MARCH 2nd UPDATE: I picked up the car Idescribed below yesterday and all I can is WOW! The car has unbelievable torque - pulls real hard in 1st and 2nd gears. Speed Gallery that did the PPI said it has more torque then a 997 GT-3! The Bilstein suspension is great. In normal mode the ride is very good; put the sport mode on and the car handles like it is on rails. The 997 interior is fabulous. I loved my 996TT but with the mods this car has I don't feel power deprived. I'll post pictures after I get it cleaned up. Thanks to all of you who gave me your input.

I'm considering a 997S that had a lot of work done by Farnbacher Loles in CT. including the following:

Install new Porsche 3.8L, X-51 factory crate engine
Install Farnbacher Loles ECU
Install Fabspeed exhaust
Install X-51 airbox
Install B&M Short Shifter
Install Bilstein PASM-compatible coilover system

and some tasteful cosmetic stuff

The car drives great and is loaded with factory options too. Anybody's experience with this company's work, and this set-up in particular, or any other input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Farnbacher is one of the better shops around for this kind of work. They're a real-deal group of racers and it shows in what they build on street cars. I may be sending my GT3 up to them to have some work done...

Check these videos shot in their shop:

Why would a 997 need a crate engine with X51 when a stock unit with this powerplant is so easily obtained from the factory?

I could never figure out why the 120K Farnbacher Loles Cayman w/ the X51 3.8 can't outrun a bone stock C2S...

Great videos. Thanks. Do you by chance have a name of anyone there I could speak with about the work they did on the car I'm looking at?

Farnbacher is a well-known and successful racer with a good reputation he's earned and, I'm sure, wants to protect; those vids of his shop show it's a for-real operation; those mods look mouth-watering! If the price is right (and there are no disclaimers on the car's prior use or the materials), his work and history would be something I'd sure consider.

I think that I saw this car on Ebay, with that many mods I would have it inspected by a Porsche Dealer, or get some kind confirmation from FBL that the car is good. If it is the same one, and the car checks out OK I say go for it...it looks good

Thanks very much. I spoke with Kip earlier today and he attested to the car and its condition and that the prior owner did not track it or drive it agressively. I will most likely move on this car tomorrow or on the weekend.

Wow if this car is as good as I thin it is you are going to have a nice car. Just Curious, who puts a warranty on the engine? FBL or PCNA?
