how aboout non s

did they have current none s numbers? or people still seeing 0-60 at 4.8? How accurate is that as I heard the none S had a bit better real life times as well?

In the same issue they also tested the 997S against a GT3RS which did 0-60 in 3.9 and the QM in 12.1 @ 116.6 mph which has 60 more hp and weighs only 80lbs less.
Oh I realize this, but that time is still there . The current times are more inline with what is out there with other rags. Also in that 3.9 R&T test they mentioned the car didn't axle tramp...I'm like how??, these things love to hop.

I witnessed my dad run a 12.78 ~ 112 mph in his 997 S. I still cant figure out how Road and track got those times but the car is quicker than you think.

Yes they sure are (puts a smile on my face every time I take mine for a quick blast) but 115 mph traps put it in E55 territory and 997S's normally don't do too well against E55's...the 55's 516 lb ft of torque not to mention the 467 hp are just brutal.

I see you're in Holmdel NJ...I used to live there years back when I was a kid!

I would like to see side by side testing by the US major mags of a 997S, 997 and 997S w/X51...that would be quite revealing.

I follow drag racing & have driven race cars in the past. These time's in the 12:40 range are attainable. Keep in mind that they are probably popping the clutch at around 3 to 4000 RPM and are slamming the gears(aka power speed shifting). Basically they are beating the crap out of the car!
Straight line speed is fun but we live more for the corners

That is very fast for a 355hp Porsche, but I believe it.

When I had my 440rwhp 03 Cobra I had a 997 C2S give me all I could handle from a highway roll one day, truly surprised me.

My previous 445rwhp 03 Cobra was a solid 12.2-12.3@114-116 car depending on my driving.

After that I bumped the power to 492rwhp SAE and ran a 11.84@120.57.

Hmmm, so if a well driven 997S can run 12.4@111, and my Targa top weighs 132lbs + 120lbs for my AWD, that should equal 0.25 and 2.5mph slower.

Theoretically I could run 12.6-12.7@108-109 on a good run

Realisitically it feels more like a 13.3-13.5@104-105 car to me.

At a 93K MSRP, a number I can't cover in case somebody crosses lanes and totals my Porsche at the track where insurance does not cover me, that is a number I don't feel the need to verify.

Coming from my 11 second stock Z06 & Viper, and my modified Cobras and Mustangs, I guess I'll have to be happy contesting stock Evos and STis

Howard

hey thanks

this is great, I was always curious as when people ask "how fast is your car 0-60" (yes standard question asked it seems) I never said mid 4's as I never wanted to embelish anything....I hate when people do that.... what I had read on porsche material always read 4.8 so I would say "little under 5 seconds......" or "high 4's"..... thanks for the link.... great reading.

Same here. It is amazing the range of results for the 0-60. I was dubious of R&T's latest test at 4.1 sec, but I guess it is possible if you are willing to try hard enough. I'm not. The driving experience is so great there is no need to brag about 0-60 times.
