So how much is the X-51 and I understand it's not a simple bolt on?

The X51 requires a bit of surgery to get it to fit a non X51 car. First of all the intake isn't that straightforward to install since you need to change the oil filler pipe which is usually done by removing the alternator. Secondly the intake tube won't fit onto the throttle body correctly which means you'll need to get a special tube fabricated or by one of the Hoover tubes of the correct size. This in itself isn't that big a deal but it's not a straight bolt on like the EVO.

When the 997.2 came out Porsche whacked up the price on the X51 dramatically. They used to be $700-850 FROM Porsche but now they're up in several thousand $ range. At $500-600 used it would be a good buy but I'd find it hard to justify at the MSRP of $2k+ for an intake.

Thanks. I'm actually considering the Fabspeed 200 cell cats as my first mod and if there's a good bang-for-the-buck airbox mod I'd consider that too. Car already has the factory sport exhaust and I'm afraid to mess with a tune. I'm not looking for all-out performance, but smoothing out the powerband and better throttle response is always appreciated!

Who sells that intake, I like the carbon fiber but can't pay the X51 price.
