19" or 20" Wheels?

Hey everyone, i'm currently in the market for a set of wheels and am debating between staying with 19" or upgrading to 20" for the 08 997 C2. For those with 20's, any input in terms of ride quality deterioration? If i run Bilstein pss10's with 20's vs 19's will the ride quality change significantly? Thanks!

Ride quality is relatively stiffer, but very minor. I love my 20's, but they do come at a cost.

If you get PSS10's or Damptronics, your ride will contribute to the stiffer ride as well.

Funny thing is that when I drive my sister's Non PASM equipped Cayman on 18's, the ride quality is the same except when hitting bumps or very very rough roads. When that happens, you definitely feel the impact more in a lowered car on 20's.

The difference between the two isnt that noticeable. On the other hand, the difference between stock suspension and wheels is much different that stock. Not to say its bad, but its pretty noticeable.

I've actually noticed a better ride quality since upgrading to 20" inch rims. But, I suspect much of that has to do with the fact that I went with Toyo T1R tires (replacing the OEM Pirellis). Seems to me that the T1Rs are a bit softer in the sidewall and make for a more compliant ride.

What's the best tire size to use for front and rear with the 20's. Any issues with rubbing? Lowered and non-lowered if someone has this info.

My C2S is lowered on H&Rs. I have 245/30/20 in the front; 315/25/20 in the rear. No issues with rubbing.

Where did you get your Toyo's. I wanted to get PS2's in that size, but apparently they dont make the 315/25/20 for the rear.

H&R coilover or just springs? i think ideally i'd like to get a 20" setup with coilover setup that mimics closest to stock.

Hi, I`ve just bought a set of 20" Techart rims on ebay. They are 8,5 " and 11" and came from a C2S. The tirerack.com recommended 235/30 and 305/25 to me. Do you have wider rims or will your size fit my rims ?

Will the total size of the wheel be bigger on your tires ? thus affecting my 4 wheel drive ...(08`Targa 4)

I am also waiting for the H&R lowering kit

Sorry...I have H&R lowering springs only.

I bought the Toyo's from my ATL-area tire and wheel guy. He suggested the 245/315 set up for my 8.5/11 Techart Formula II rims, but 235/305 works just as well. He thought the wider ones would look more aesthetically pleasing. But, I don't think it makes a hill of beans which of those two sizes you go with on the Techart rim.

Anybody know if 325 width would fit on the rear with 20's? I assume there would be rubbing.

upside

Can anyone explain to me what is exactly the upside of larger rims besides the look? I understand 19" over 18" result in even stiffer comfort, and costlier more fragile tyres. I heard it could could be noisier as well?

Now do you get a better drive? Does the car hold road better? What is exactly the upside please?. Tks. P

Save yourself some money on rubber and go a little smaller.

It's a matter of preference. My preference was to go with a larger wheel after I added the TechArt body kit, because it made the OEM 19" rims look too small for the car.

Most of you guys like to put a bigger tires on the rear, read this post:

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ad.php?t=76165

On The C2S the bigger size you can put on the rear is 305.
