Ed,
Very interesting mount. How do you secure it? How much is it to make one? Can you make one for me?
Thanks.

Track driving is fun
Track driving in the rain is more fun!

Looking at both videos (Ed & MK) you boys need to work on your hand position, 3&9 is the correct position. Thats why there is a detent on the wheel, for your thumb.
Ed you need to work on Heel & Toe downshifting an well as relaxing your grip.

MK what is that silly thing hanging from the rear view mirror??? WHY?

I removed the mounting bolt for the rear seats and replaced it with a custom made aluminum mounting assembly then put another bolt into the original threaded hole. We then attached a 1.25 inch round aluminum bar to either mounting assembly and bolted it in. After testing we found that it needed to be raised up so we built the riser bar. Once I found the setup I liked I had the system anodized. I used a standard camera mount with a quick release and I leave the bar all the time, however I figure it would take less then 10 minutes to return it to stock.

I made this for my own use (and one for another 997 owner), but could call the shop to do more. I would imaging that they might want to do more then one, perhaps if we get more interest in these I could have a bunch made up.

It is very stable and very clean looking.

Ed

Ed,
I already have the seat back removed for booster seat. I'm definitely interested...Save me time from research it at Home depot/Lowes. Should I PM you?
Thanks.

No home depot/lowes parts in this set up, well maybe the bolts (but I doubt it).

I had a machine shop makes this set up.

I will talk to them about pricing.

I did adjust after the first session, I did some laps with one of the instructors and they pointed this out, thanks for the feedback

I was more concerned with keep my car on the track, I will be working on Heel Toe this year, but I want to work on a finding my lines and staying on them. Lots to work on, and not enough track time to do it all.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Good video, I would suggest attending the Porsche Sport Driving School in Birmingham AL. (formerly PDE). Great instruction and you won't learn bad habits, the instructors are top notch factory drivers.

I would love to go to the Porsche Sport Driving School, however I am limited to the amount of time that I car get away from work and home (I run my own business and have two small kids at home). This was my third DE that I have done, I have at least 4 more this year. The local instructors are very experienced and I will get a wide veriety of teachers this year (means you get a few different opinions and not pick up the same instructors bad habits), but I will see next year. Thanks for the advice.
