Track experience with Damptronics?
Track experience with Damptronics?
I'm seriously considering a set of Damptronics for PASM and wonder who out there has first hand or even second hand real-world feedback on the track. I'd not lower all the way, maybe just 20mm (3/4") to ROW because I already scratch on some driveways. I actually like the OEM suspension, but realize the benefit of a lower CG and updated track-oriented damper and spring rates. Amazingly, the JIC in my 964 with 564/674 spring rates is great on the street so I wonder if the same can be said for the Damptronics (I assume so). Anyone here in CT have a 997 with PASM Damptronics?
Also, for those that have, did you change sways and if so, which ones? I'm wondering about alignment specifications - not many shops around me have extensive experience with Damptronics and adjustable sways on a 997S.
Thanks,
Ron

RonCT - Eclou has the same PASM system on the 997 Turbo and he did a write up on it on the track. I am bad at searches but I know he posted this thoughts.
I have the Bilstein Damptronics as well and I have nothing but compliments for the system.
I had a pair of KWV3 but could not get a dealer to disable the PASM so I had to go this route and don't regret it whatsoever.
Atomic80 did tarret drop links with H&R sways I think. He also did a write up on it as well.

Very satisfied with the Damptronics so far. Haven't tracked them yet. A little bit stiffer than OEM but much more composed and without abosolute no diving what so ever. I think even before tracking, this is the best mod I have done.
I'm installing a set of Cargraphich sways next week, adjustable at rear.

Thanks for the info. Wondering why you are changing the sways if not on the track yet? I've read some reports of people with Damptronics and they feel the stock sways are fine unless you've turned the car into a dedicated track machine and want the last 10th in handling adjustment. My thought was to change to Damptronics and see how it is over a few track events and then if needed, change the sways to Porsche OEM GT3 so you have adjustment front and rear.
Installed PSS9's last year, lowered the car a little under an inch. What I found was the chassis became more neutral and under steer was significantly reduced.
In normal mode the suspension is a little stiffer than the normal setting for the stock dampers and in sport mode it seems stiffer as well.
For me it has worked great for both the track and street.

I hope/think that with the 4 way adjustment at rear I should have enough options to find a nice setup. I see that the dimension of the Carpraphic is much bigger than, stock so it should really help.
Anbody who have changed sways? Tell us about your experience.

NorthVan, did you install the bars yourself? Without the bars my car is pretty neutral now. How do you run the rear bar adjustment on the track?
Hell no! I can barely change my own oil...I had them installed with the CO's, they set them at the lightest setting, I don't want to watch my back end pass me on every corner. I will likely get them adjusted when it get more comfortable with the setup.
I did that with mine, with my weight in front seat and full tank. Thats the normal way to do.
As was posted, it's highly advisable to corner balance - why wouldn't you as that's the beauty of true coil overs. Any garage can do it as long as they have scales - It's ironic, I don't think there's a shop around here that can't corner balance - they all do...
