2006 911 c2s possible tranmission problem

Hi guys, i recently purchased a 2006 997 c2s with 4k miles on it

the car came with a factory installed short shifter if that help

sometimes when at a stop it is very difficult to put the car into first gear almost like your getting the lockout as if you where moving, it only happens once in awhile

anyone experience this?

No . Not on a Porsche and it does sound like a simple adjustment. One more day until Monday when service opens . don't let this ruin the weekend.

The factory short shift kit is "snug" until you get used to it and it feels a little "sticky" when it is cold. It also seems to loosen up a little at ~5000 miles or so - likely more due to learning than the car though. Went through the same worry with mine, need to be a little more aggressive with it than you think you should for a while.

Sounds normal to me, especially with a short throw shifter. I had that very same problem with a 05 Corvette, sometimes I would stop at a red light and couldnt put it in first for the life of me. That was embarrassing..

This is a common 997 quirk even w/o the short shift and it happens to me every so often as well (it's a little embarrasing when sitting at a light and can't get into first without either engaging the clutch or engaging second then shifting into first)...there are tons of threads regarding this on the various porsche sites where some say it's a simple adjustment and other tech people say its due to the double cone synchro in first. Since it's a relatively rare occurence and a rather common issue I have learned to live with it.

Does double clutching help when it does "lock out" like this? This used to happen intermittently to me in an Audi and if I double clutched it seemed to solve it. It's definitely embarrassing, especially at a stop light!

Definitely clutch fluid - have it checked

Seriously though, my short shifter feels the same way when cold. When warmed up, no problems at all.
