Unbelievable Experience at a Dealer Today
I have had that happen to me at my local MB dealer. I went to an empty MB dealership with my wife and kids and nobody approached me. I went to one of the salesmen who was doing the crosswords was like,I'll be there in a second. 15 min later he approaches me on the floor and gives me an attitude. When I ask if we could sit down and discuss numbers he said it wasn't neccesary and just started throwing random figures at me. I politely gave him my card, and left, pissed. I ended up getting a Jaguar instead. I went back to MB with my new Jag and asked for the sales manager, and salesman. I told the manager how I was mistreated by the salesman standing next to him and showed him my car. I then took a pic of the car and sent it with a letter to MB of North America. 4 days later I get an apology phone call from the owner of the MB dealership, offering to sell me any model I wish at cost. I politely refused and was then told the direspectful salesman was no longer with them.
I talked with a very nice salesman named Apollo quite some time ago and he was excellent but this isn't the first bad experience I've heard about Newport (sales and service).
Sorry to hear about the bad experiences ... it's bad enough the way we are ALL treated by the fathers that dictate to us from Porsche across the pond ... you would think our dealers here could and would try to make up the difference. Of course I hope it doesn't come to be, but a good ol deep recession would put a lot of those rude bastards out on the street ... you could count on the Cayman market to completely dry up.
I myself have had nothing but a great relationship with my dealer and I have only been in this city just over 2 years ... heck, about a month ago when the new Cayenne GTS's arrived I got a call and they offered to bring one by the house for me to test drive ... but then to be honest we live within a couple of miles and have bought a few cars, including from their sister Audi dealership ... wife just got an '08 S4 Cab ... so I guess a track record helps as well

And a link to this thread.
my plan...it isn't right but it is who I am.....
I would have kissed his ***, told him I was ready to buy today, that I was in love with that car, the color combo, options list, as if it was built for me!!! Just want a test drive to seal the deal..... once in the car tell him you plan on paying cash and can have a casheirs check ready in 30min as your bank is on stand by!!!! Once behind the wheel.... tell him how you can't believe this will be your car in less then a few hours..... Ask the salesman what he plan's on doing with the commision he makes after the sale????????????? Maybe tell him your wife wants an SUV as well and maybe he can get two deals today....Then I would proceed to push the car, tear through gears, run the car hard...real hard....have some fun.... then take the last off ramp sideways (assuming putting no other drivers at risk....) rip through the last few gears and then all over the brakes as we approached the dealer..... smile ear to ear, get out of the car, look him right in the eye and say, "thanks for the test flight *******...." then toss the keys at his feet and walk out.... assuming the initial story is accurate... two sides to every story, have learned that over the years as well.

I was 36 when I bought my Porsche. Walked into the dealer after playing golf that morning in shorts, looking a little worse for wear. I went in to talk about ordering a car, but when they had one equipped as I wanted (or similar to) on the floor we got to talking, and went for a drive. We went over some numbers, and trade info. Sales manager gave me his cell phone in case I had any questions and it was his day off. We wrote the deal a few days later. Guess every place is different. There is someone out there who will value the sale. Just buy from them. And for goodness sake, remember these guys need to make a living too. Enough of this BS of beating them up over and over and then asking for floormats or something stupid like that.
wow that is unbelievable. Someone needs to send them a link to this thread. This thread has already close to 1,000 views from potential Porsche customers who won't likely be buying from that dealer, surely they must care about their reputation being ruined by one stupid salesman.
ahhhhhh!
ahhhhhh! you caught my real post before I toned it down a bit..... Maybe you think I am nutz now!!!!

Go back to the dealership. Make sure that the salesperson sees you, then walk and request to speak with the GM. Tell him the situation and show him the bad publicity he is receiving on a very large porsche forum(s).
they had a cayman i was interested in.
i have never done business with them, bought my 997 new from BH.
i also had the service warning light and BH told me i couldnt just drop by for a quick reset.
The guys at pacific werent pushy at all, let me and my 20 yo cousin that looks like a punk drive the cayman all we wanted.
my service warning light was reset when i got back.
they even called me back a few weeks later to see if i found another car and i told them i would hold on to my 997 but when i am ready for a new car i am only gonna go to pacific.
in a ferrari or lambo dealership i understand being treated like this but not in these mass produced mb's or porsches...
